Yep. and like Apple, most companies who sell stuff, are constantly launching 'new products' in order to sell more of the stuff people have already got, they just have to re-brand it and market it again. Same in surfing with 'new flex neoprene' wetsuits and in Mountain biking with upgraded components, every year without fail there are new product lines and it all adds to the spiral of consumerism that we're talking about.

My approach with it, is to try and sidestep it all and then buy it second hand. It's already been made. It's already been shipped. So some of that 'cost' of producing it has already been absorbed. You get stuff at bargain price, so go figure...
