Pretty much copying my comment at halftime. Despite being ****, we created 3-4 really good chances, and should have had a penalty. And Sheffield hardly created anything. Yes, they got into good positions but Matip and VVD cleated everything. They, along with Fabinho were outstanding.
Matip has been outstanding for about a year now, really grown in confidence over that time too, Gomez is 3rd choice and he even said as much a few days ago. Matips gotta be worth 60m easy if we sold him tomorrow. And he came on a free ffs.. when do start calling him world class?

The flag does go up on those close ones when the initial attack breaks down, occasionally - but it seems to be happening less and less for some reason
harsh. VVD, Matip and Fabinho won the aerial battles, ground duels, a lot of interceptions. They were really good. Agree that the rest of the team weren’t great.
Matip and Fabinho I'll give you (they were decent but not at their best imo). VVD had his worst game for us so far but he's entitled to an off day once in two years.
really? I’m surprised by that. I thought he pretty much won everything that came his away. Positioning was excellent - especially when those crosses came into the box and he intercepted.
Matip used to worry me at first. Not great in the air for a tall lad and prone to useless forays up the pitch. His improvement is amongst the most spectacular I've seen in a long time.
I think he was a lot more lightweight when he 1st arrived, I'd like to see a pic of him then and now with no shirt (Ooo er) because he looks more filled out and strong to me. This might also have something to do with his injury record then and now too perhaps (no jinx)
I don't think he won much cleanly but it was more his poor play in possession. He also gotbeat a couple of times which is very unusual for him. Defensively, most played well. They had to!
I'm sure Robbo will privately be ribbing VVD about taking him out. Can have a laugh about it now the game is over and we got the 3pts.
