I think today is the day that club and fans alike need to realise that nobody is going to hand us autos on a plate. Defenders need to defend, creators create and strikers score. And it's up to Bielsa to make it happen, that's his job. If the players fail on the pitch it's ultimately down to him as he trains them and picks the team. Sadly, teams are working out how to play us, and earlier than last year. So ok, Charlton scored with their only chance, but if they hadn't we'd only have drawn - and that's 2 weeks in a row. As it happens we dropped 6 irrecoverable points. We're flattering to deceive again. It's not about Bamford not scoring, or Harrison's crossing being crap, there's a deeper malaise where players and fans alike seem to believe we have a divine right to go up. Big wake up call today, heed it or be left behind Leeds - and it's up to Marcelo to make it happen.
I am getting seriously fecking bored of reading this type of reporting every frigging week. Leeds - who had 72% of the possession but hit the target with just four of their 19 attempts - drop to fourth.
We played well again today. We still haven't deserved to lose yet in the league. EVERY other team seems to be getting the luck against us at the moment. How many times have we had cleared off the line or hit the woodwork this season? If they go in, then we are clear at the top. It's a cliche but you need a bit of luck to go up in this league. We never had much last year, and its continued on to this season. I can only hope our fortunes change soon otherwise it will be play offs at best. I'd still start with Nketiah up front next game. Bamford has had a good run in the team and not cemented his place. Give the boy a run of 6 or 7 games and see if he can get us firing! At least we can have a balanced debate if he gets a run of games.
****ing hell..... 17 Helder Costa - five Not the full league debut we were hoping for from the loanee. Anonymous in the first half, but improved marginally in the second. Still nothing like £15m worth of attacker though.
One other thing, we miss Jansson when defending corners and set pieces. We are a small side. Get Ayling back in. At least he is 6ft.
Doesn't surprise me.... Patrick Bamford - four Offered nothing in the box. Again dropped deep at times to help the midfield, but patience will be running thin on the terraces with a goal drought which didn't look like ending today.
Didn’t seem that way to me or my charlton mate. We did nothing second half until some urgency in the last 15. Never looked like scoring, passed it around, no penetration.
Just got in and OH SH** another weekend ruined.Bielsa's gotta do something about our strike rate, because i do like enjoying the odd weekend you know
Did you not see Eddie put the ball across goal with Costa being close to knocking it in, or the brilliant save by the Charlton keeper then.
I've only just got a chance to read the comments as I've been really busy. As soon as Charlton scored I just knew we'd lose because Leeds disappoint us. Look on the bright side though, if this carries on we won't have to worry about the lottery of the playoffs. I did day that I would trust in Bielsa who said that if he played two up front he would sacrifice chances but we don't need chances, we need goals. If you don't convert them then it doesn't matter how many you have. Swansea and Charlton didn't create many but put one of them away. Maybe we need to forego some possession and chances for penetration. If that makes any sense. I also do agree that teams seem to know how to play us. They know they'll get a good chance at some point
I saw us nearly score twice in the first minute of the match and have several other good opportunities in the first half. Didn’t see this dramatic second half improvement you did.
anybody know what the incident that occurred during the game is as mentioned in the press conference. My son has just mentioned it to me says the goalscorer bonne won't say but it's sounds like somebody has made a comment to him and it's being looked into. Last thing we need but at least it'll take the pressure off Derby
They had 3 shots on target, 2 of them occurred in scoring the goal. The other was a routine save from a free kick. So they didn’t have a shot in open play. Everyone has days when they lose a game they should win. For us it’s not the exception. We dominated a bang average side who will do well to finish mid table, but we played all our nice football in the middle of the park and weren’t able to carve many clear cut chances, and gifted a goal. Familiar story.
