[QUOTE="CaptainPops, post: 13184760, member: Newmarket 3.40pm Dark Vision 20/1 each way 8 places. Has a visor fitted today and William Buick takes the ride for first time. Could work the magic. Ran ok in the Britannia and whilst largely been disappointing..including when trying front running tactics last time out he could suddenly produce the goods. Strange to think in a way earlier in season he ran in the 2000 guineas. Dark Vision plum last..switching around at the back came flying up the outside to finish 6th at 20/1. That will do nicely.. Kameko just pipped on line..
Quite right My buggers have just conceded away to Pompey - thought it was too good to be true, 0-0 after 63 mins!
Highland Chief ran a stinker in the Royal Lodge. The trainer's representative was questioned but could offer no excuse for the lamentable run. I don't think it was a good renewal of the race. In my preview I said that I didn't trust Mark Johnston with short priced runners and Raffle Prize didn't manage to get the win today. The winner reversed form with narrow victor last time Dark Lady in big style as the Hannon filly ran as if perhaps her 7th run of the season might have been one too many. These look like sprinting fillies to me and I could not have them on my mind for the Guineas. Millisle came in rated 103 and will get the usual boost from the handicapper because it was a Group 1 race but I suspect Raffle Prize has not run to her best today. The Middle Park sorted out a few things. The major one was that Mum's Tipple looked seriously overrated for his Sales Race romp. He was not on my mind for this race and he was a huge disappointment today. His hype bubble burst there and stablemate Threat was a bit of a damp squib as well. Threat was unimpressive last time and a few excuses were aired afterwards. Those excuses need expanding on after today's show and after looking to have a strong hand at one stage Richard Hannon will be scratching his head tonight. I backed Earthlight again today and Golden Horde was my outsider selection for the race. Delighted with the 1-2 there but I can't have Earthlight for the Guineas at all. Golden Horde has got a lot closer to him today and the rank outsiders splitting the field in 3rd and 4th casts a fair bit of doubt for me over the strength of today's race. Summer Sands and King Neptune are both well exposed and both came in rated 96. It is pretty hard to imagine that they both improved a lot on the same day, in the same race, out of the blue like that. The best explanation seems to be that Earthlight ran to a lower level than his Morny win, with Golden Horde running his race, while Threat has run below his best form. Mum's Tipple may simply have been overrated. Siskin did not run but his form partner Monarch Of Egypt was last today and any interpretation of form lines suggests that Siskin would not have won based on his form with the O'Brien colt. In the Cambridgeshire I thought my pick Beringer was going to win when he hit the front but his action seemed to get over-exaggerated out in front and it was clear that the Gosden horse was coming to reel him in. John Gosden seems to keep sneaking these lightly raced horses in from what prove to be lenient marks but Beringer was 4 lengths clear of the rest and he gave me a belting run in landing the each-way at 20/1, comfortably managing to reach the generous 8 places on offer. A good day that could have been a bit sweeter had Beringer won but it's a tough old game this one. Earthlight is generally 8/1 for the 2000 Guineas now but he's no value in my eyes with stamina to prove and with the owner's having the hot favourite already.
Just the one bet for me tonight trap1 in the 7-38 at monmore currently 5/1.....has plenty of early and hopefully he gets to the first bend in front of the 3 dog.
And the nomination for best comedy odds quoted this year are:- Bet365 for Earthlight in the Epsom Derby at 12/1 That's funnier than Fawlty Towers was.
