Do you actually think people need to do research to discover that eating loads of cake is fattening?

I'm guessing they do, because there might not be so many of them if they did.

That's not ignorance TSS, it's gluttony.
I think what horrifies me is not that some people will eat too much of an obviously fattening foodstuff, but that an "expert" thinks that people need warning against it.

Of course, there's plenty of gluttony around. But I also think there's truckloads of ignorance too. And not just about persons cramming as much cake in their feedholes as they can. But if you mean am I in whole hearted support of public health warnings on cake programmes, no I'm not. Sometimes you just have to let people get fat. Maybe it's their only pleasure in life?

That happens in Arizona too. I didn't have any ID with me on that occasion but my obviously grey hair got me a waiver (and I think the accent helped too).

I’m a bad man. I’m just watching Tuesday’s Bake Off and I’m crying laughing, as the lady has just thrown her custard tart on the floor.

One of the few films I insisted in watching at the cinema.... and then didn’t and still haven’t seen it! :(

Well you must remedy that FLT. You might be encouraged in that, in my opinion, it doesn't need to be watched at the cinema because it is more drama history than spectacle. At least so far... 45 minutes in. Thoroughly enjoyable.

    Edit: Excellent film.

Bono & The Edge walk into a bar.

The barman says: "oh no not U2 again".

That’s funny, but when I stole it, I typed “you two”...I think it works better. Do you? More cryptic.

I must admit, the awfulness of that joke got me wondering about the name. I knew about the spy plane, but wondered if there was more to it. Anyway, this is from a site called funtrivia:

“They were first called Feedback when they formed in 1976, a clear rock-oriented name. In 1978 they became The Hype but a punk friend told them this was a rubbish name for a band (maybe not in those exact words), at which point somebody suggested U2 because it was a spy plane, a submarine and had an air of inclusivity about it (you too). So like many band names, it just sounded good at the time.

And in passing, Paul Hewson named himself Bono after a sign advertising Bono Vox hearing aids (Bono Vox means beautiful voice in Latin).”

I agree the information is out there, but there's also a lot of misinformation regarding food. The rules are simple...eat less of it if it is sweet and/or fatty. Eat variety and do NOT eliminate food groups. People don't need to research food...they need to stop obsessing and enjoy life.

@greensaint Have you had egg bound hens before? (I’m not doing the lubricated finger thing)

    **technology post**

Google have just leaked/announced a single Quantum CPU chip. Quantum computing promises immense speed improvements over conventional classic CPUs of now. Google ran an algorithm test on a baby form of the new chip which took 3 minutes and 20 seconds. OK, big deal. The same test on the fastest possible single classic chip would take 10,000 years [no, I am not kidding].

This is both fascinating and rather scary. The repercussions are practically unlimited.

Pretty innocuous eh? I don't think.
