There is a famous quote from Wenger saying if he went and got a new CB it would kill Johan Djourou. But the sad thing is him and others are the guys that will in the end kill Wenger's reign at Arsenal. Because if ever a player summed up the mentality and quality at Arsenal at this current moment then this is the guy for it. Weak, arrogant, lackadaisical, deluded, awful hair, clueless, pampered, zero versatility and also thick as a plank. This guy has has own video diary on the Arsenal website where he is all fun and jokes each week and looks like he loves life infront of the camera. But as a player the guy is shocking. Its scary this is yet another player that we have tried to develop and spent all this time and money (wages) trying to make him an Arsenal player. It must surely hurt, for people like Wenger when he watched this guy show the effort and utter idiocy he has when he plays for us. All this time at Arsenal and he has not learnt anything and the way he fouled Yakbu when he was going nowhere summed up his skills. Here is a quote from him after the United game. It just does not even hurt for these people. They are THAT deluded by Wenger's mollycoddling of them that they do not feel anything even after shipping 8 goals. Wenger has told them and everyone just how good they are so do not be shocked by the delusion that is set in within the likes of Diaby,Denilson,Djourou,Bedntner and Vela. Its disgusting that a player like this who has one trick, which is being a 4th rate CB when playing alongside someone decent is still at the club. And he will not leave, he will not find a club with the history and size of Arsenal. He will not get paid as much as he is getting at Arsenal. Same goes for the likes of Vela and co. This is the generation that ended Wenger's time at Arsenal. And for all the trust and work he put in them they never even fought for the guy that tried and failed to make them. Like i said in the end Wenger's time and maybe even legacy got killed by the players he tried to protect.
Ah men. Did you see him on that break away goal. All he had to do was run across and clear the ball. He got there first and didnt get the job done. Wenger doesnt realise that sometimes "potential" doesnt become fulfilled.
Agree that Djourou isn't good enough for Arsenal. Vermaelen and Mertesacker are the only CB's we have who are good enough. I still think we need to buy a CB and a proper DM
I honestly thought wenger realised at the end of last year that we needed to overhaul the squad. Sadly he didnt. Not surprisingly we couldnt flog denilen, diaby and bendy (prob due to fact we pay them ridic wages and yet refuse to go the extra mile for truely good players).
Do you think its a lack of confidence, poor quality coaching or losing faith in the manger that has caused this sudden downturn in ability? Or was that just fluke before?
That 4th goal was absolutely horendous by him...he din't even bother to track back(he was walking), after Sagna came off 2 of their goals came from Djorou's side I'd rather have played Jenkinson/Miquel at RB than Djourou
Well like i said that was his only good performances in his whole time at Arsenal. He came to us in 2004. Maybe it just a purple patch that he will never repeat.
Yup, he was famous for at least 2 major gaffs a game before that purple patch. He needs to be sold. Its not just arsenal either. Anyone see him for the swiss vs england? He single handedly cost them that game too with his shambolic performance. I think Kol is a decent 3rd/4th choice cb though.
By the way SJW I don't think you can blame Djourou for him still being here, he is just another player that the management misplaced their faith in.
Never did. Like i said he knows he will never find a better club then us. He is still here beacause Wenger can't bare to face the truth that Djourou was just a waste of time and effort.
It should, really. But because players like Djourou never really gave it their all for a man and a club that gave them a chance, they are to blame more for me at this moment. Also we have enough people on here going after Wenger.
