Agreed. Trump is a card carrying climate denier. And he and xi jinping are locked in a trade war, so neither of their priorities are the climate.

As for the UK, there are some good projects that organisations like the woodland trust and other conservation groups are campaigning for, basically a rewilding of Britain by 25% which would meet our zero net carbon target. There's also loads of really innovative clean energy tech and initiatives that are box ready. We've got the tools, but it needs a radical change in the system for it all to be implemented.

 

Is the message she is putting across wrong? Not according to the entire credible scientific community who are being mostly ignored by many of the leaders of the major nations. You only have to look at the money behind certain leaders to see where their agendas are being run from.

Has anyone got as much traction on a global scale as Greta? Certainly not in recent years so what she is doing is fantastic, there is no evidence to support the spurious claims against her. It’s just standard behaviour for those opposing to try and discredit an easy target in Greta than deal with the points being made. If you’re giving **** to a 16 year old girl delivering a positive message it really says way more about you than her.

I agree with you mate like I've said I respect her and admire her , but I don't really care if the planet dies because I don't think life matters that's all .

Ha yeah, I don't think it matters ultimately if the human race wipes itself out. It's a shame that we would take 90% of the planet's species with us. But overall, the planet would probably benefit from that long term. It would definitely regenerate without us.

 

They have failed. And the system of capitalist economic growth, with the wealth syphoned off for the rich to maintain their power base has failed too. They are the problem that has got us into the mess we're in with the climate.

We need regime change.

 

I think the realistic regime changes that can be done are removing climate change deniers like Trump and getting more in tune with doing more for the planet, sadly it has to be baby steps to keep it realistic so some people so entrenched in opposing and scientifically incorrect views don’t freak out.

I can only share a limited amount of my knowledge on this. I've had first hand experience of being present in a tornado. I've also known no fewer than three locations that I've personally visited destroyed by hurricanes. One was in the Everglades, the place was never ever rebuilt. Another was Keys, (Islamorada) it caused widespread damage, but the area recovered, the third place i visited was Bahamas, Freeport...it's this last one that was different and the reason blamed on climate change. My belief is the difference between this hurricane and others, including the previous two I mentioned - is it ground to a halt. It is really unusual for a hurricane to grind to a halt. They normally after passing through the carribean hit the Eastern Board before dying out. However, due to complicated scientific reasons around atmospheric conditions (global warming), that suggests hurricanes are slowing down, that as proven is the worst consequence for populated areas, once they hit land. Now imagine the next worse case scenario, if that hurricane had reached and stalled over the densely populated area of Miami. To give you some insight to the consequences of such event, hurricane Andrew in 1992 caused a total of $27.3BILLION damage and cost 65 people their lives. It took no time at all to cross Miami (it was in the Gulf of Mexico within 2 hours), now imagine that had ground to a halt for 24 hours like Dorian.

You are assuming humans are the only collective consciousness, but space is so vast, you can never know that, because we have only explored a small part of it.

Regarding Greta, she is obviously well read/tutored on the matter of climate change but you have to ask some simple questions about her present "fame" and where did she get all this info from to transmit to the UN.

Well, the information she is espousing is freely available and produced by the IPCC which is an in governmental body of the UN so I am pretty sure the people she is screaming at have already had the info she has.
Ask yourself this, what chance would you have of getting the same platform she has been given if you really felt so strongly about something?
She is being used and abused (and yes, her childhood is being stolen) by unscrupulous people seeing the benefit of having a sweet little child pushing their agenda.
The poor girl is terrified of the future and demanding that things happen straight away without any idea of what she is asking, we could stop CO2 production tomorrow if we wished but we may find that billions are dead within 5 years and the rest are living in tents and caves.

A good way to cut CO2 emissions right now would be to ban all international travel, make all countries become self sufficient and ban big industry from the ridiculous "just in time" supply line (make the ****ers keep a minimum one month stock of parts so they only need 1 or two delivery's per week instead of the four per day some now have)
Never happen though will it, we would rather make sheep and cows extinct

 

Except it does though. Planet earth existed before humans and human consciousness mate.

And it will exist still if we weren't here. Not in our consciousness of course, but that's just the human condition.
