Roy Hodgson gave a very gracious,unWengerlike interview on Radio 5. Much respect to the man for that.
Great result, after all the bad stuff going on this at least has lifted my spirits. Thank you Swansea City. As I'm feeling a little bit luvved up above life after that, here's a little number from LK....... if you want you can change the lyrics to Let Swans Rule when it plays..... My summary of the game. We dictated play as per usual, pressed West Brom when they had the ball, players got behind the ball when they had too. Once we got the second goal only one team was going to win it. West Brom did have a decent spell but we kept them down to shooting from outside the box, and the never really troubled us. Vorm pulled off a couple of decent saves when called upon. Arsenal moment out of his system now. On the players, lovely game for Gary Monk to come back onto was never really pressurised, all though I did feel Ash was taking on the responsibility at the back and leaving Gary to sweep up. Taylor and Rangel supported and pressed forward when called upon. Thought our midfield terriers were excellent Leon and especially Allen. Gower composed on the ball, just went about his business. Scott & Dyer caused problems and Lita worked hard, he will need games to get up to speed, what can we say that our forward line all got on the score sheet can't ask more than that. Happy day to be a Jack!!!
What the hell is going on with Dobbie?? Why the hell is Moore getting on the pitch before him, I hope this is not going to be a regular feature! Good comprehensive win though, and one we needed........................ please log in to view this image
So happy that we've got our first win! I work every Saturday so don't get to follow the game properly - although I do have the live text on one of the computers behind the counters. I didn't get to see the scores until about 3:40, and to see 2-0 to Swansea put me in such a good mood for the rest of the day! Dyer getting one was just the icing on the cake! So proud of the teams 'bouncebackability' - no matter what happens in the game before, you can always trust in our team to put in a good showing the following weekend! Thank you to everyone who has commented on this thread and given me some insight into the game today. Can't wait until Match of the Day now, going to be a good evening! I hope Wales can beat the Samoans to cap off a fantastic sporting weekend! The players have really stepped up for their manager and locals in their time of mourning. Well done to the boys - onwards and upwards. Let's just take it in our stride, we always knew that the boys could compete, now they're actually going to show the world that they can! STID
Shocking interruption of the minutes' silence by a small section of West Brom supporters today. In honour of not only the miners, Brendans' father and that little Harry kid, it was also in honour of a West Brom fan who had died. The referee had to cut the minutes silence short after about 20 seconds, because they were refusing to stop chanting, even though there own fans were berating them. Shameful behaviour from a small bunch of ignorant ****s who should know better Anyway, fantastic result. Dominated again, but today with Gowers' passing range, and Lita trying to get in behind at every given opportunity, we looked much better. Flooding the midfield was the right option today and I think it was a selection none of us were expecting. Lita really impressed me today. So strong in the air for a little guy, and even though his first touch was predictably poor today, worked his socks off all day. Monk was quiet, but did his job and Rangel was brilliant in both attack and defense. Ash definitely took a different role today with Monk covering alot more than normal, maybe to protect his back from tough challenges. Sinclair looked lively today and Dyer had another cracker of a game. Really good to see him scoring too. Vorms' save from the free kick was top class and Joey and Leon looked full of energy and played good football all game. Mark Gower was MOTM today for me. His longer range of passing in the first half, and then his containing passing in the second was impeccable, and he lasted 90 minutes without looking too tired by the end. Ref was good today, even though he missed a few things, he was hardly noticeable, which is always a good sign. 5 points doesn't seem too bad after 5 games which included Man City and Arsenal away, and there were signs today that we will play like this again, especially at home, and possibly take a few scalps. Well played swans, good to see you win today. Glad you beat west broom as they, undeservedly, took 3points from us.
Congrats on your 1st win today guys, shame we couldnt have done that last week Hope taylor's injury is not to bad, those baggies seem to like wiping out players with horendous challenges and somehow get away with it... OTBC
Thats because Roy Hodgson is a true gentleman. He handles success and defeat in the same gracious manner.
i was shaking my head when Dobbie wasn't playing, tbh if i was him i would be off to Blackpool were he knows he is wanted
Musty if dobbie was not wanted he wouldn't have signed a new contract committing himself to the swans until 2013, he knows he will get games but there is intense competition for places at our club, which can only be a good thing! And by the way Blackpool didn't want him otherwise he would have been offered a deal with them !
Jager,I think I read that Blackpool offered £200,000.00 for Dobbie just before the window closed. Holloway being a bit cheeky.
Dobbie was not a regular starter for Blackpool - he was mostly used coming off the bench as an impact player. But that's irrelevant. He will get more game time this year and I'm certain that he will score goals! He will be the first to say that he hasn't played as well as he'd have liked to in his brief appearances this season, but when he gets his next chance he'll be more than ready and raring to go, I'm sure. We've got a tight squad, and they win and lose as a team. I was pleased to see Dobbie giving a round of applause as Nathan/Lita were replaced by Moore/Routledge - the guy is a jack bastard and once he gets onto the field, whether it's through someone's injury or just selection, he'll make sure that he does himself, and us, proud this time
Please stop saying Dobbie hasn't done well this season! Lots of Swans fans seem to be doing that of late and it pisses me off. Apart from Man City where nobody played that well he's had bit parts, coming on for 10 or 15 minutes towards the end of games. It's unfair to say he's not played well when he's had such little game time. Nobody can deny he's a goal threat - something Luke Moore certainly isn't.
