Evening all, apologies if there is already a thread dedicated to the topic but just reading this... https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/nathan-blake-names-sol-campbell-16980361 It again got me thinking who could we attract. I've said previously that I wouldn't mind Mike Flynn from Newport. Certainly think Blakey is barking up the wrong tree with Campbell though Rowett I suppose could do a job but I wouldn't like to think about how many games would be snowed off under him! I think David Moyes is still kicking his heels isn't he?
Judas Campbell, no way. The Jacks would offer £10 more a week and he would be off like a shot. Little or no managerial experience. 3 months or whatever at Macclesfield doesn't count. 2 Spurs fans talking. You know that film Basic Instinct? Yeah. You know that scene where Sharon Stone crossed her legs when the cops were interviewing her? Yeah. Did you get a glimpse of Sol Campbell? Anyway, wouldn't touch Moyes with a flagpole. Flynn could be a good shout but lacks higher level experience and contacts. Chris Hughton is still available. My preference.
Im with you blue. I mentioned his name a week or so back. Offer him a retainer starting in january. Give him a chance to run the rule over the squad for the season run in, get a feel for the club set up and start his shopping list.
Is this some sort of joke? I’d go for a foreign coach in the mould of the Norwich guy. Someone who’ll advocate attractive pacy football and prefer to win 5-4 than 1-0. Bit like Dave Jones then
OGS was a ridiculous appointment to a PL team. We are a championship side and if still one next season then someone like Farke would get my vote.
It's a gamble taking on a foreign manager. I never thought Farke would succeed but he has done very well. Ironically kick started by the cup win against us. A lot of research is needed to get the right guy plus much discussion to ensure whoever gets appointed has the finance and back up staff needed. Oh yes, and the players to match his playing style. Not just telling him to get on with what we have.
