High performance psychologists. Clubs in various sports often employ them for players but do they consider the coaches/backroom staff and managers.

Corporations employ them to engage employees all the time all over the world. It's possibly one of the things that's left some football clubs in the dark ages so to speak.

With you Cumbrian, there must be people who could help with tactics and experienced managers to talk how they coped with pressure. We can only guess what help would be beneficial but a good employer who is paying the salary and compensation when things go wrong would look into it.

I’m prepared to test the karma of this forum and declare that I’m firmly in the Ross out department, I’m not changing my opinion after one result, I was at Bramall Lane last night and the team put in a decent performance against a Premier League side, but I still believe that Ross is lacking, let’s see how he juggles his side come Saturday.

Out of curiosity, in what way is he lacking?

Out of the areas you can identify could he benefit from some guidance/support and would that make a difference?

Last nights game will have given the fans a lift after the last couple of poor performances. We must win on Saturday to get the promotion push back on track and we need to keep winning our home games and the fans will get back onside.

Well this is going to sound a bit silly after last night’s result, but I think he’s tactically unaware, he has no plan B, it also appears he doesn’t even know what his best team is, all negative I know but that’s the way I feel, I also know that I’m not alone in my opinions.
For what it’s worth I would like nothing better than to be proven wrong, if he finds the formula and takes us on to bigger and better things.

If he had the guidance/support of a more experienced individual would you consider keeping him?

Not sure, would he be interested in such a set up....I don’t know, but if it improved the fortunes of our team I’m open to anything and everything because ultimately it’s results on the pitch that count.

What do you mean by support - as in the backroom staff are not good enough coaching wise, or they don’t have the ability to handle the group of players, or something else completely?

I always thought we should be looking to bring in world class names (coaches, ex-players, even sporting professional from other sports) for a week or two, doing sessions with the players. I think it would keep the team happy and provide a different take on aspects of the game they may not have previously thought of. Even get the academy involved in the sessions. Imagine being told Thierry Henry is coming next week as a guest coach to help us improve our striking. We would get something out of it and the guest coach would gain experience and probably a ‘nominal’ fee :emoticon-0164-cash:

Agree with this. They don't even have to come from a football background. Check out Darren Burgess (fitness coach) who went from AFL to football with Liverpool then Arsenal and back to AFL.

    I think it's a ludicrous idea.

What makes Thierry Henry a good football coach?

Why bother having our own time served experienced coaches if we are just going to draft somebody new in every week?

I didn’t say he was a good coach, but he was a world class striker, and if you could take advise from him to improve your game why wouldn’t you?

I used Henry as an example.

Also I didn’t say every week. But even if it was, would it be a bad thing? I get what your saying about your own coaches but they ones who know the group, they would oversee the sessions, imputing alongside the guest coach. It’s not about drafting someone new in it’s about gaining as much knowledge from as many people as possible.

Morning all, another newbie here. Not posted on t'other forum for a while as I'm scared to catch rabies from it but this place seems as chilled as when it first got going. Feels good to be back on the old football forum there marras, looking forward to spending a bit time on here.

It's not so much the coaching team as I think Jack needs someone to hold his hand (not literally) or have someone he can talk to outside his coaching team, he's a relatively inexperienced manager especially down here and he talks every week about the expectations that this club demands of him and his players so just someone to put a smile back on his face.
The sport psychologist idea mentioned earlier might work, I've always liked Ross as a decent bloke and manager but feel recently he's lost his way.
There's every indication that the squad are playing for him it just needs tweaking somehow and if I knew how I'd make some money at it.
    Does that make any sense?

Having a mini-bus full of strippers every training session would be a different approach and a fresh idea. Doesn't mean it would do them any good.

Nice for new members to introduce themselves and not being told to F@%k off as a welcome (rtg). Always found that embarrassing when people from other teams joined for a bit of crack.

You have to be a good coach to give good advice. They go hand in hand.
