A distinction needs to be drawn between day schools and boarding schools. The school my son goes to is 100% day students.

I do know people who send their kids to boarding school when they don't have to ie they're not forced to because of work or location. Either they send them further away than they need to be or they send them to a mixed day/boarding school that is close enough to where they live that the child could be a day student but they still board them.

That is something I don't understand.

Maybe the kid wants to board? I guess living with your mates in a school is basically like uni for the underage

Yeah, I just think parents will regret it, unless the kid is a proper ****e.

Maybe, depends on the age I guess. I was barely at home from about 12/13 onwards, any free time I had was spent out with my friends, pretty much just being at home to sleep.

Meet loads of people from all around the world in public schools too...maybe they didn’t come in Aeroplanes but landed on Boats...but that shouldn’t matter.

I dabbled in every sport going when I was at school thanks to school

I won’t say I was programmed to pass exams in my school

I’ve got lots of lifetime connections...doesn’t really matter if you don’t know people in other countries, in fact I prefer it...when I go on holidays I don’t really want to accommodate a few days with some **** I went to school with 30 years ago. My lifetime connections are my boyz n the Hood I’m not here to conquer the world

My point is tell your Private school mates that we don’t all aspire to be globe trotters or to have mates in every continent as if that is some kind of class distinction...my World is where my people are and yet I still travel...amazing huh?

I don’t see it as much of a selling point...this is why I can’t stand toffee nosed ****s...”yaa, we travel, have friends in New Zealand...a few in the South of Frannnnnnnce toff toff’

    I kno niggaz in Amsterdam...I got G’s in a Dubai...so what

Yeah I'm not really arguing for or against, just saying what people I know have said in terms of what they thought was good about private school.

If I had the cash I think I probably would send my kid there, most of the ones I know have done better than my other mates who weren't privately educated.

In my experience even in a public school...the kids who had their head down actually did well...the dossers didn’t.

My problem is when the A student in a private school is looked upon more favourably than an A student in a public school once they both step out into the big World and the prejudices come into play

Yeah I agree with you about the prejudice thing.

The dossers I know from private school all still have degrees though. This was my point about passing exams being taught there, even the ones who couldn't be ****ed still ended up with the grades to go to uni and get a degree, so when they are 22 or whatever and have finished and potentially grown up a bit there are still lots of options. They might **** that up of course but the option is still there where as the dossers I knew from my school were usually ****ed by 22 in one way or another.

If anything it's working the other way around nowadays. With unis anyway. Maybe not with work. The old boys network will still be looking after each other when it comes to jobs.

I know a bloke who went to one of the top public schools in Britain. Weed was everywhere, apparently. And it’s a mixed school, so I’m sure there was plenty of teenage fumbling going on.

He’s a pretty ****ed up dude though. Not sure how much his education had to do with that.

I'm assuming you mean state school not public school. An A student from private or state school will most likely go to university where it doesn't matter what school you went to. Which university you graduate from has far more significance out in the big world.

There was a study a few years ago showing that privately educated kids struggle when doing medical degrees. Basically they're so used to have their hand held they can't cope when they've got a huge workload and not so much help. Entirely understandable.

I work in a private school btw but been trying to keep out of this convo :bandit:
