Good Morning. It's Wednesday 25th September, and here are the Leeds Utd headlines

Bent blasts FIFA for awarding Leeds Fair Play award

Darren Bent has blasted the Worlds governing body for awarding Leeds United and Bielsa the FIFA’s Fair Play Award.

Bent said: “It surprised me that. Yeah, what he did last season against Aston Villa, I understand that, but when they got caught with the whole Spygate thing and for him to come out and admit he did it to all the different clubs, that kind of voids them in that fair play discussion.

“What they did against Villa was brilliant, it was really, really respectful but for him to get caught on Derby training and say yeah, we did it but we did it against all the teams we played against, that should void them completely from that fair play discussion. That’s not fair play.”

    New contracts for promising youngsters

U23 Development players Bryce Hosannah, Pascal Struijk and Kun Temenuzhkov have all been handed new contracts. The trio featured heavily during their PDL title-winning campaign last season.

Struijk in particular has caught the eye of Bielsa. The former Ajax youth player is believed to be on the verge of the first team.

Youngsters Stuart McKinstry and Charlie Cresswell have also put pen to paper on their first professional contracts at the club.

McKinstry joined United initially on scholar terms from Scottish Premiership team Motherwell but has now put pen to paper on a three-year contract.

Highly-rated centre-back Cresswell - the son of former United striker Richard - has also signed similar terms with Leeds hoping they can emulate two other recent Thorp Arch graduates.

    In other news

Following Liam Coopers FIFA award beating the likes of Messi and Ronaldo, the 28yo has been listed as the most difficult defender in the Championship to beat!

Statistics show that Coops has won a Championship-best 75.81% of his defensive duels. He's been involved in 8.28 of them per 90 minutes played in the league.

Following of his slating of Bielsa, Darren Bent believes Leeds can sign Nketiah on a permanent conttact should they get promoted this season.

    Thoughts?

Sheffield Wednesday have been asked by the English Football League to explain why a £38m profit from the sale of Hillsborough was posted on their 2018 accounts when Land Registry documents date the purchase was almost 12 months later, according to The Times.

That is a very good question?

Mentioned the other day that Wolves could be in trouble before too long because of the collapse of Thomas Cook because the Wolves owner Fosun will lose a significant chunk of cash. It now seems that they are trying to sell 20% of Wolves to stop the hurt. Wolves was bought for £45m in 2017 when they were in the Championship but now value the club at £450m because of Premier League cash and the value of some of their players.

Can anyone blame Radz for trying to keep hold of his investment until it gets promoted?

Fosun by the way was buying shares in Thomas Cook when they were worth £1.45 because Fosun wanted to take a controlling interest in the biz. Ow looks like they will lose around £1bn on that deal as shares fell to a few pence

Good Morning to Matt and co from a sunny Bardsey yes I kid you not a sunny Bardsey
I see that Boris is having to comeback from America hope he didn't book with Thomas Cook I see that in Alcudia alone Cooks owes the hotels there 260k this could have far reaching affects on them as it is not a common tourist attraction and when I lived in Mallorca it was practically closed in winter.I bet you can get some very cheap holidays now
Monk has only been at Sheff a week and they are already ben investigated over selling the stadium
Had a really lovely holiday In Looker near Bamburgh the weather was really good until we journied home yesterday when the heavens opened from Newcastle to Leeds we were glad to be back safe.Recommend the cottages excellent with pool spa hot tub sauna etc

Back on the subject of club valuations I see that Radz has valued the club at £45m almost exactly the same as Wolves when they sold to Chinese Company Fosun. Radz in an interview this weekend has stated that he expects to see the club valued at £350m within 2 years of promotion and he is keen to hold onto his 75% stake simply because of the circa £100m TV rights revenue guaranteed in the prem. He expects to see a spike in wages and player trading/valuations as well as an increase in revenues from PR, marketing, promotional activity, sponsorship etc. He is also working very closely with the 49ers board members who are experts in maximising value.

In reply to a very good question from Southern, we have Bamford

    They have:
    • Jesus, Aguero, Sane and Sterling
    • Laurente, Malik and Insigne
    • Immobli, Klose and Diao
    • Muriel and Zapata
    • Bale, Benzema and Hazard
    • Mane, Salah and Firmino
    • Ribery, Chiesa and Savio
Probably about a £1bn worth of talent, we spent £7m

Very true, but it does highlight the real problem we have and (for me anyway) puts paid to any argument about needing to change formation, i.e. one up front. It also strengthens Bielsa's belief a change to two up top will reduce the opportunity to create so frequently. The argument about who that 'one' should be I'm sure will rage on <laugh>

<laugh> Yeah but we could have got Andy Carrol on a free, but but but but would have cost us £60kpwk and he would have scored maybe 4 goals this season <laugh><laugh> so maybe we should accept that we dont have the cash to improve our conversation rate too much and just thank the lord that Bielsa is trying to sort it. But look where Bielsa has got us on that list.... :emoticon-0165-muscl

But i still don't get it ,what's the use of creating all those chances,as unfortunatly chances don't win you football matches, i would sooner create less but have a quality finisher on the end of them. Seems an odd discussion as were sitting top of table, although thankfully other results have been going our way, but for how much longer, we know what happened last season,we were probably the first or second best team in the division, but still failed,we all know it was down to not making all that possession count with not being able to score enough, i just hope we are not going down that road again, but early signs and all that :undecided: hope we are worrying over nothing i really do, and somehow we start converting some of those wasted chances with what we have got. Then we realy would have (in footballing terms) found the holy grail, as for me it seems like we have just assembled our ten thousand piece jigsaw puzzle then realised two bits are missing.

Whilst I very much take your point, it's probably worth noting that most players wouldn't have been in position to have the chances. Bamford movement is actually very good, remember he always plays as a lone striker, the centre halves have no one else to worry about yet he finds the spaces to have those opportunities.

If he could improve his finishing on his right side he would be a complete player. Yes he missed one with his left at the weekend but nearly all his goals are scored with either his left foot or head.
