Do you know what, I reckon if we finish above Arsenal at the end of the season, we'll stand a very good chance of survival
i'm way too blue for that, ipswich (Chantry) born and bred! but i thought/knew you lot would turn it around today...was even contemplating going on a 2-1 win with the bolton goal a penalty, but i didn't dare risk that one! nevertheless, we're all celebrating tonight! well deserved win all round!!
We played awful today Our first half was a disgrace, we had 11 men back for set-pieces on the idea that we'd ****ing defend them and look what happened there! Well played though, good luck for the rest of the season.
B4E thank you, I notice OC has you playing proper, attractive football, not the hoofball of big Sam's era. I'm sure your fortunes will change very soon! Good luck for the rest of the season
It wasn't very attractive today We would of crushed you with Big Sam's hoofball, that's the difference unfortunately. We were miles more consistant! At least there wasn't any proper controversy like there usually is in the Premier League, apart from the referee making a few odd decisions here and there. Nothing major though. You have decent support as well, considering your distance. Don't bother crediting ours, it's ****e
Certainly the least controversial game we have taken part in this season and for that I am thankful although on both sides there were players throwing themselves to the ground a little too easily. Providing you survive the season, playing on the ground will be better for you in the long run. You must be happy to be rid of the hoofball tag that has been hanging over you for the last few years?
5 pens so far and this is the first totally correct one in my eyes. The Wigan one was outside the area Stoke - Outside the area, not even a foul and certainly not a red card offence!! Chelsea - was a penalty, VERY harsh to show a red card for it though. Ruddy was trying to pull out and there was Pilks coming back. WBA - WTF? And today. Maybe this is a sign that things might get called correctly more often from now on. On todays penalty, What on earth was Barnet thinking? Why the hell make any kind of challenge there? The player is running away from goal without full control of the ball... Nevermind, the result forgives him.
on the penalty subject, Rudd now has a better record than Ruddy with 50% stop rate opposed to 33.3% for Ruddy. Just a thought, if we are to keep conceeding them......
Cannot comment about the penalty today as I have not seen it yet (live streams here in Asia are poor sometimes) but I get the feeling we may well be 'looked after' a little better by officials on the back of the previous 4 games. I am guessing there is a certain amount of sympathy for us now and unless it is an absolute certain penalty we may not get penalised as we have done in previous weeks.
Yet to see the penalty but was having a nightmare on the train trying to find out the result as the internet on my phone went bust. I was worried about the result until I found it! Don't care about the penalty, it wasn't a game changer, we still got three points and there's only slight damage to our goal difference. Definitely helped having a top ref I reckon. The FA showing sympathy? I will be rather annoyed tonight if, on Match of the Day, Shearer or Hansen were to say that five penalties is bad and that our defence should be more careful - bit difficult when the opposition are diving and refs are giving soft penalties.
Sorry Wonky but our defenders do need to be more careful in and around the edge of the box. Not because they might be careless but simply because everyone knows it is likely to lead to a foul. PL needs to get our players more 'street wise' and I am sure he will in time
O that's not what I meant. Yeah, agreed they definitely need to be careful and not give the opposition the chance to go down. But I mean they will suggest that the players are not disciplined and that the penalties were penalties. But agreed, we don't want the ref to have to consider if there was a penalty or not.
Just wondering, has anyone seen ruddy's save near the end of the game? according to coyle it was a wonder save and was wondering if he was going abit OTT with it? Great result and hopefully with a home game coming next against a struggling sunderland side we can put them to the sword. One thing i am hoping for is that lambert does NOT change the side for it... OTBC ILWT
regarding the line up, the midfield for sure. Fox getting two assists is evidence of that, and wes played well from what i heard. i'd like to see vaughn start, worries me a little that only one of our strikers has found the net with the rest of the goals coming from defence or midfield.
Tbh I think he was going a bit over the top! It was a good save; the sort where Ruddy wouldn't have been blamed if he had failed to get to it.
Hmmmm, suppose you have a point max. But why change something thats not broken. This whole changing the side to suit who were playing is starting to concern me abit. I wish we would just stick to a side and formation and stick with it.
Good result today gents but let's be honest this one and Sunderland are your best chance to pick up wins all season. The jury's still out.
I must admit ICHB, this does concern me a bit at times as well. Why not let the opposition change their formation to take us on? Having said that though, I do have complete faith in PL, and I guess he is a tad more qualified than me.
