Yes, and the player had the courage and decency to admit that. Now he's doing pretty well at Atletico. And what have we got to replace him.... Aurier (liability), Foyth (liability), Sanchez (a CB!)
That sums it up for me. Mild disappointment isn't the emotion needed right now.... And standing sullen and unmoved on the touchline isn't helpful either during one of the most embarrassing games of recent time. Feel sorry for the youngsters and the new arrivals. A real baptism of fire....
That's not the issue...you posted that "No wonder he wanted out"... he did not want out...he himself has said this. I was always in favour of him staying but when people were complaining last season about our woeful form from March onwards Trippier was part of the problem...a big part...who is to say that he'd be making a difference now?
I have no idea if you are right ... but if he does he should quit as there is nothing we can do to stop him ... the fact that he hasn't suggests to me that he doesn't want to.
If he quits, he foregoes a big pay off. If he's sacked, the club has to pay off the rest of his contract.
The man is a multimillionaire...his reputation is taking a battering. If he wanted out it would make sense to quit, take a few months off then take one of the decent job offers that would come his way when a big club get rid of a manager. I do not see him staying for a pay off. The club should not panic ... if he is committed to stsying then he should stay imo.
RE Tripps, he never wanted out, he even said that in his interview but he chose to leave when he wasn’t given assurances over his play time - and rightly so, he was gash last season (which he also admitted too) - but it’s clear that what Tripps said with regards to “things going on behind the scenes” was bang on and that no doubt also played a part in his decision to go. A few on here and in general on social media berated him for saying that but the manager is now practically saying the same thing so it’s not as if he was wrong. Ultimately we were right to sell him but wrong not to replace him, so on that basis alone it kind of makes it look wrong to sell him, if that makes sense?
