To be fair to the lads, we also had a gruelling 90 vs Napoli earlier this week. Rest the starting XI for MK Dons so they have a nice week to recover.
I was ****ting it for the last 20m minutes of the match PS Some people are never satisfied. You know who you are
Most pundits believed that we don't usually do well against the top six away from home, I agree with them, but we proved them wrong.
Lallana is a spent force, no idea why he was brought on. Someone like Chamberlain could have got on the ball and tried to take control of possession. We also needed a formation change or something in the last 20, Firmino and Salah weren't at it and we didnt react.
Here's some complete garbage I read on #bbcsalford yesterday but didn't bring up then for #nojinx protection "Mason Mount's deep free-kick finds Marcos Alonso unmarked at the back post and Adrian pulls off a superb save to block his header. The offside flag goes up after but that's another let off for Liverpool, who are struggling to hold on!" So his OFFSIDE shot was SAVED and that was somehow a LET OFF for us? I know you're in complete #meltdown these days over the relative strengths of Man Utd and Liverpool but at least get some kind of grip on reality.
I agree about Lallana but seeing as he's still here he has to get some minutes I suppose but yeah his addition was odd bearing in mind we weren't comfortable in that game at that moment. Another win while just doing the bare minimum to win it. Every game is different, there'll be great ones and mediocre ones as long as we get all the points I'm happy.
Agreed. As I said yesterday, in the past we'd be chuffed to get that result, no matter how it was achieved. It says a lot about our progress that some are disappointed still because we didn't blow them out of the water.
I want to see us control the game more once we get the lead. Last season we snuffed a lot of teams out and kept a lot of clean sheets. This season we dont even look close to not conceding and we are giving teams encouragement even when they're losing.
We know we are a match for anyone, play well and win. Now we're discovering those two things that used to elude us - winning a game from being behind and playing poorly and winning - have been turned around. We get a bit of everything these days - breathtaking football, amazing goals, mediocre football and 'lucky' goals, players on their game and off their game. The overarching message is that we've learned how to win and have the belief that we can go as far as we imagine we can go. The biggest test will be versus city.
I understand your point, and I'd like to see us control the game too. However, there are some decent teams out there and there will be times when they have a good go at us and wrest control for a while. We just have to make sure that we do better on balance - I don't think we can expect to prevent teams like Chelsea from having periods of dominance in a game.
Especially since Lampard clearly made both games against us so far his number one priority for the season at the expense of every other game and player fitness
Last time we won at Stamford Bridge was during the time of Gerrard Huollier: 2003/2004 season. Bruno Cheyrou goal from a brilliant Heskey assist..
