My view, for what it's worth, is that there should really be no need for public / private schools or Private health care in modern, western society... my eldest 2 came through stare schools with very good A Leves and have gone on to fine universities, Leeds and Cardiff through a mixture of hard work, natural intelligence and self discipline and dedication ... youngest seems to be heading in a similar direction and that makes me immensely proud .. no advantages from birth or money ... that's how things should be ... climbs down off soap box <cheers>

Ffs, you said you didn't know him.

He's been around for years, you must be always stoned not to realise that.

Ok...another question, if you take the thousands of kids out of the private sector who's education is paid for by the parents, then put them into the state system are you not going to crash the current financial model of that state system?

Now it could be argued finance would be sourced via the land grabs, but surely that is only an instant win, win, for the government coffers? - that debt of private education into the state system will however, remain with us for ever. Hence could this weaken the strength of state education, currently available to children without the additional increase in pupil population at present. ie class numbers will increase, maybe?

    7%

    600,000 kids

Good luck integrating them while taking over their classrooms and sports halls.

I don’t see it as political mate. You want to eat good quality steak? You worked hard to have enough dosh to buy good quality steak so buy your good quality steak. You earned it. You’ll still pay the VAT on it.

Depends what aspect of a topic is your angle of interest. I'm not really bothered about the domino affect of all these kids from Private schools joining Public schools. Build bigger schools, there's plenty money just needs prioritising...but priorities are all wrong.

    I find number crunching boring

For me, the Class divide and it's social affects are much more important than doing the sums for some silly ****s who take our taxes.

It's just a hypothetical question anyway and not happening anytime soon so no need to get calculators out.
