Private Schools

This isn't a political thread (IT ISN'T!!!!!1).

The Labour conference crowd voted to abolish private schools.

Do you think this would be good for the majority?

 

I don't really understand the set-up enough to understand it, and what they receive in benefits from the tax payer.

One thought I did have on it was how will this affect children from overseas who come here for tuition in a private system (investment coming into the UK) or is that something entirely different ie not funded by the tax payer.

I would need it explained in more detail to be able to form an opinion.

The tax payer contributes nothing to private schools but the schools do get charitable status which is questionable in my opinion as I don’t get why they could be considered to be charities.

I pay for my daughter to go to school. It's not a private school as such, it's just a bit better than the average Thai public school.

That reminds me, it's school fees again next month, ****.

 

Hmmm, so if overseas students enter into our private education system, then the taxpayer sees no money from it, because they are registered as charities, am I understanding it correctly?

However, as a registered charity does that mean any profits have to be put back into the school (business) or is there a profitier from it? (ie the school owners_.

I don’t know the answer to that one. Overseas students are often charged more. Perhaps that’s a tax. Perhaps it’s the schools exploiting overseas students.

 

The proposal is to integrate them and their facilities. Basically a land grab.

 

My view is that people pay for private schools because they think it’s the right thing to do for their kids. It’s their choice. They still have to pay tax and don’t get a refund for not using the state school system.

Same goes with private health care.

 

I don't like them for the simple reason that there is this air about these children being better creatures than Public school kids and that filters into society and it shows with many snotty bastard jobs going to snotty private school kids
