For various reasons this was my first game of the season so just an observation or two for those who weren't there.
I didn't really notice a significantly more high pressing game than under Nigel, but maybe that worked to our advantage as felt we lasted the pace for 90 minutes and grew into the game. As Grant McCann said post match , we did step it up second half though. A fairly ordinary affair until we scored after which we really seemed to look much more threatening. But also conscious its fine margins - feels like we have played quite well in some games without winning and while we deserved to win yesterday, we got away with that one off the post when it was still only one nil.
Was very impressed with Stewart - feels like the best genuine defensive midfielder since Ian Ashbee to me. Strong in the tackle, used the ball well, and his energy to be there at the end to score after Bowen's break was terrific. Also very impressed with Lopes. Looks a real prospect - confident on the ball, bags of energy and can pick a pass. A very impressive first appearance in midfield. Grosicki and Bowen are just such a threat - the out ball to them is just so useful to us. I think Eaves is obviously short of confidence but would point out that Stewart got dog's abuse on here for over a year, and now he's Super Kevin Stewart. So let's just wait and see. Magennis looked a bit ungainly but certainly linked play better when he got going.
Finally, thought Long was more imposing than Marshall, and the two centre backs have come on a lot since start of last season. Many reasons to be positive for me.

I watched the highlights last evening and although the clips were brief, I was also left thinking Eaves is a donkey!

The guy got about 50 goals over 2 seasons in an average team in League One. He clearly isn't. He looks short of confidence to me so hope he's not reading some of the stuff on here and on Twitter.

It is a very strange thing to admit, as in my mind surely that gives away your tactics to opposition? I know there is far more to it than formations, but that is the fundamental starting point. Unless it was just gamesmanship? He seems to like that.

I was relating to a specific change and not his overall performance as a manager. I learnt from last year when I criticized Adkins that sometimes people need time to get things right, last year I was one who didn't want to give Adkins time (I was wrong and admitted it a number of times), but I learn from my mistakes. In regards to the strength of the defence, I am very unsure, it depends on what is classed as good, as I would say there are far better defenses with far better individuals. I have not seen enough of the new signings to make definitive judgments, and I think Kingsley and De Wijs are average at best. Midfield wise, I think we have some decent central midfielders (Henrikson, Stewart and Batty) but again I haven't seen much of Honeyman or Lopes to make any definitive judgements, he could be getting the most out of them for all I know.

I have no interest in stalking you, sometimes you make good/valid points, sometimes you make bad one's (Evandro should be brought on as a holding midfield and stating we didn't have a squad overhaul this summer both times you refused to admit your wrong even with definitive evidence provided), like everyone, make good one's I will agree with you, make bad one's I will point it out and try and give logical reasons why I don't disagree. Your reluctance to admit errors is a flaw that I may also point out from time to time. But I point that out in anyone who refuses to admit their errors, as they can be great learning points in life.

I disagreed with a decision, didn't knock the manager (A huge difference), after learning from previous mistakes I will continue to back him and won't state there is a "managerial problem" until he has had sufficient time.

When I am wrong, I will admit I am wrong. I would be surprised to see you do the same.

Oh you’re taking the wording managerial problem to the extreme then, right.
I’d go back and see what was put by glp and what I put.
You’ve done in the Blackburn comment exactly what me and glp said on this thread
He’s not instilled in good players what he wants from them
That’s fatal in a defence with good players

I read it the first time, and read your views on a number of threads about McCann after very few games, despite having the same points as Adkins after the same amount of games last week, and now more.

Good to see you refusing to admit you where wrong still, in keeping with your persona.

    Worra ****er
Ive offered my opinion just as you have
Sounds like bit of one upmanship going on as you were so completely wrong about nige you’re throwing yourself 100% behind terry and looking for someone to have a go at

    I’m 100% behind terry
But continuous displays like Wigan will see him get the sack. FACT
Do I want him sacked? No

Not looking to have a go at anyone, including yourself. I am disagreeing with your opinion and stating why, no need for it to be having a go at someone and trying to cause conflict. Similar to swearing, no need for it.

I was wrong about Nigel, completely agree with that, hence why it would be illogical for me (Or any city fan) to criticize a manager at this early stage, especially after another squad dismantling this summer. You learn a lot when you admit you are wrong and learn from your mistakes, very hard to be successful without doing that.

No, that was against Massive Club away, also in 72, might have been the linesman instead of ref and I think he got sent off for the adjective before onion!

And yet you did criticise him
It’s not getting through or you’re deliberatley ignoring it.
