We were not and have not been average since 2005.

Since then we have had :
    1. One tenth place finish and a cup final win. (Ramos)

    2. One eighth place finish and a losing cup final (Redknapp)

    3. One sixth place finish (Sherwood)

    4. Four fifth places (Jol x2, Redknapp and MP) one with a losing cup final and 1 with a losing CL final (MP)

    5. Three fourth place finshes (Redknapp x2 and MP)

    6. Two third place finishes (MP)

    7. One second place finish.

I aint in favour of sacking MP but to suggest we will "revert to average" ignores the simple fact that we have not been average for a long time.

I am not in favour of sacking him either, but if he were to choose to replace Zidane at Real then I would wish him all the best, thank him for the work he has done for us and wave him on his way - But I have on idea how we go about replacing him I see very few managers who would excite me who we might be able to bring in.

Several managers would be kicking the door in to come and manage us. Our squad and that stadium would attract a high calibre coach for sure.

Which suggests you might be better off keeping the one you have. Especially our most succesful PL era manager who only last season saw us to the CL final.
I realise people are dissaoppointed after the game and our run of recent poor form, but stamping your feet and reacting like a 3 year old as some have and usually do when we lose is extremely short sighted. Not having a pop at you Changing Man just supporting the position taken by PowerSpurs. Obviously something is wrong behind the scenes. whether it's just the destabilising effect of Eriksen wanting to leave or something more it's important that Spurs do not panic but work to sort out the problem.
Or you can be like Watford and change your manager at the first hint of problems.
Perhaps all of those always bleating about the lack of transfers might consider the other side of the transfer business and how easily a squad is disrupted. Remember our team after the Bale money for example. There is still plenty of time in this season before we have to panic. We didn't play THAT badly today we had one or two players off their game Son was eclipsed for most of it for example. IMO teams always function better when they are unchanged but obviously that's difficult to do in the modern era of high tempo football and games every 3 days because of constant interruptions by Internationals.

I'm not in favour of sacking him either but I have begun to wonder whether he has it within him to win trophies.

I respect your opinion. But I think it is just a blip. There are certainly things wrong but there always will be. That is the nature of all human endeavour. Fixing them without breaking something else is the tricky thing.

How does somebody have it in them to get to a final but not have it in them to win the final? This sounds a bit like never never land or the way some people decide who to vote for in an election.

Anything other than a top four finish and / or a trophy is an average season in my opinion, Poch has delivered us regular CL and is arguably our best manager since the early 80`s, so still has plenty of credit in the bank. All these fickle fans should be careful what they wish for, there is no guarantee a change of manager will change anything, and there is a decent chance things could get worse.

Look at the facts, yes we have not been playing well consistently since Dembele was sold, which was no doubt a club decision to cash in whilst they still could and his replacement (as yet) is not at that level, hopefully Ndombele settles in quickly and proves to be money well spent. Once again like last season we have injuries, and all 3 of our new signings are either injured or have been, other players are returning from injury and being managed accordingly, add to that a few players in their final year refusing to sign new contracts or not being offered one, it all adds up to an unsettled squad and inconsistency, I can see why Poch has been / is frustrated.

Of course Poch has made mistakes, show me a manager who doesn`t, with the biggest one of all being that spat with Mike Dean, as now you can be sure that we`ll get very few or no favours from the officials, as they look to stick up for their colleague, even though he is a referee who officiates with an agenda in mind at times.

It has been an inconsistent start to the season but we have also been unlucky with injuries and VAR, we could easily have more points but also performances could be better. All this talk of replacing Poch is over the top in my opinion, anybody would think we are getting battered every week, we are now at the start of Poch`s second `5 year project` and he has even said this himself, this season was always going to be one of transition as we look to replace a few players over a few windows, so let`s get behind Poch and the team.

Good question but there have been teams/managers that have played great football and not won anything: Keegan's Newcastle spring to mind.

But Keegan was clearly a naive manager as he himself admitted. He walked from the England job saying he was not good enough, I respect him for that. Keegan ruled by his heart and eventually in the hard real world that's not enough. Maybe MP has come to a cross roads that he has to adjust to.So far for example he has appeared to have had a happy squad now he has to deal with discontent. I am sure he will sort it because he is an intelligent man. A little patience is required I think.

    Fair enough...misunderstood.
Like I said, he shouldn't be sacked imo but I have no idea what is going on or why or how things can be corrected.

Like I said, I wouldn't want to sack him. Let's see how the season pans out. I also think he needs to get that CL defeat out of his head

The anti-Pochettino rhetoric at this stage puzzles me. Pochettino is not the entire problem. When Sissoko is the most robust midfield player in your squad, that is the problem.

It's often been the Tottenham problem - Soft in the middle, with not enough protection for the back four. A fully fit and in form Dier would have probably won us that match, and even fit Dele All coming on could have made a difference further up the pitch.

Also at the top end, Kane, despite doing very well for his goal, should have put away other chances. He's usually more clinical and not shooting directly at the keeper. Plus, chances were created by Aurier, of all people, with nobody getting on the end.

The way heads went down after the disallowed goal can't be entirely blamed on Pochettino. Who is the captain? Some of the mistakes that players made at the end of that match were atrocious. Who's digging players out for messing up?

I hope N'dombele finds his form, because he doesn't look even half of the bully of a player he was against Man City in the Champions league just last season.

I love Winks but he has the frame and style of Parker but not enough of his purpose or presence.

I still trust that Pochettino will sort it out, and certain players will get back in shape and form.

I see the Nomads are still pretending they haven't bagged at least six points of Burnley in the last three seasons due to offside goals...
