Unusual for this game to be on a Saturday, always seems to be a cold week night for some reason! My old buddy Gregg Farrell would like to be remembered to you all...says this fixture raising a great memory for him! 5-3 won for the Bluebirds back in the day...known as “Farrell’s Match” to those who saw it...’boro player scored a hat trick and ended up on the losers side! A fine 3-0 win expected for us today pals Cardiff City goalkeeper Neil Etheridge could be in contention against Middlesbrough after a hamstring injury. Forward Lee Tomlin will be assessed following whiplash injuries sustained in a recent car accident. Boro boss Jonathan Woodgate has no new injury or suspension problems following their win against Reading. Skipper George Friend (ruptured tendon) and midfielder Jonny Howson (hernia) missed out last Saturday and both continue to recover from minor surgery. Match facts The last season Cardiff and Middlesbrough faced, the Bluebirds won both league meetings 1-0, doing so in the 2017-18 season. None of the last 24 league meetings - all in the second-tier - have ended as a draw between Cardiff and Middlesbrough (12 wins each). In all competitions, Cardiff boss Neil Warnock has won all eight of his home managerial matches against Middlesbrough, doing so with seven different teams. Cardiff City have played the highest percentage of their passes long in the Championship this season (24.2%). The age gap between Cardiff manager Neil Warnock and Middlesbrough boss Jonathan Woodgate is 31 years and 52 says - on the day Woodgate made his league playing debut for Leeds in October 1998, Warnock was managing his 520th match in the Football League (including play-offs). Middlesbrough are averaging 52.4% possession in Championship games this season, compared to 43.4% possession last season under Tony Pulis.
Normal matchday service resumed. Welcome back oh Masked one. Just updated my scorer irish. Saw the team news a few minutes ago. Glatzel is bad in bed, under the doctor.
A good point, well made. Not sure the rest of the championship is the same as it was 2 years ago though. No doubt, NW will baffle us all again.
Boro were very poor. I lost count of the number.ber of times they passed into touch. Probably our best performance of the season overall but should have scored more. Bogle led the line well and confused their back four by dropping deeper occasionally. Whyte was MOM in my opinion and gets better every game.
Couldn’t find a link in the Canadian Rockies Kept up to date with live text; is there a worse way of following a game? My lad texted me to say we should have won by 2-3 goals. He said Paterson was a waste of space though. Clean sheet is also a positive.
Paterson's value is getting stuck in and unsettling the opposition and arguing with the officials in an accent they can't understand. He would have done very well in the 70's. Beyond that he does not contribute much. Yes, should have scored at least 2 more. Would have been a fair reflection.
Doing ok with a patched up squad. Get a few of the injured players fit and work out what is up with NML and things should improve. Ethridge, bamba, pack, nml, glatzel, tomlin. Half a team there. Hanging on to the coat tails of the playoffs. Still need a few more games to be played before things really start to shape up. Front runners slipping up, big spenders not firing. A typical championship weekend.
