It's time once again to compete for the trophy that we all hate - unless we win it, in which case it magically transforms into more glorious silverware. In last season's EL FC Astana managed to secure eight points from four games, so they're no mugs. They live somewhere to the east of Paris, just a little north of all the other asakhstans and just below Russia. A game we should be winning, even without James, Pogba, Shaw and Martial. Time to blood the young guns I reckon.
Interesting team, should be a good watch. United: Romero; Dalot, Jones, Tuanzebe, Rojo; Matic (c), Fred; Chong, Gomes, Greenwood; Rashford. Substitutes: Grant, Maguire, Young, McTominay, Garner, Lingard, Mata.
Can't wait to see Chong and Gomes get a good game, the pair were instrumental in many of our best results in pre-season and they should cause a lot of problems for the opposition. Watch out Martial, you may not get your place back.
Tepid stuff so far, I don’t know what Kasakhstani is for parking the bus is, but they’re good at it. We need a spark somewhere, perhaps we could lose Magic for some invention from Mata.
I personally will like us to take this competition seriously. We do not deserve more than it as things stand. It is therefore arrogant of us to think that it is a competition for 2nd rate team. If the team is so good, we wouldn't be in the competition. Given the first team is barely performing as it is, they need every game time that they can get together to help build confidence and gain momentum.
