The only other PL referees appointed to a game in the 3rd round are Lee Mason and Graham Scott. So we've probably got the best referee appointed for the round. And to be fair he had a cracking game when we played Brighton.
Needed a stoppage time penalty to equalise, that's one league win all season I think. They're not as good as they were last season by the looks of it. I know that form goes out the window when it's a derby n all that but we really should be hammering this lot.
Who were you expecting? At least they appointed a PL ref. The one who did the Fulham game was Championship standard and you could tell.
This may be a big game for the fans but what about the players? How many Hampshire boys are in the squads? Saints have 2, one from Portsmouth, one from Winchester Portsmouth have 2, one from Portsmouth, one from Waterlooville can you name them?

There’s quite a gulf in class between even a mediocre PL side and a very good League One side. Of course there are other factors, but if our players can keep there heads we should be okay. Quality should show through eventually, but we’ll also have to work really hard because they will make sure we have to do that.
Yep, we will have to be seriously below our standard and The Skates well above theirs to not get through down there, it could by small chance happen though and i'd be personally gutted. One of our more expensive players transfer fees and wages would probably cover all of theirs.
One thing I always liked about Fratton Park was that it had the classic corner floodlights. Even Subbuteo copied them [image above]. When I recently took the train down to Portsmouth Harbour, I looked out from the window, as I have always done, to get a glimpse of them. Some old habits just won't die.
There is indeed a gulf in quality.. yet we have massive cup shocks every single season. In a local derby, down at their place, I think we would be foolish to think this will be anything but difficult.
