i went in the vista lounge on saturday - supposed to be where you can order a "meal" and sit and have a drink from a private bar. they had pies. and that was it. cardboard boxes to eat from. what's funny is that it was the same pie as on the concourse but more expensive. when i asked what the pie came with, the kid said "nothing". not even mash or gravy. at which point i said i'd pass... 2 seconds later some guy in a suit asked me why i didnt buy food. i told him that you used to get a curry and rice, or sausage and mash, roast dinner, pie and mash.. for about £6 and the vista lounge was no longer worth the £25 it costs to get it. ended up with a hot dog from the concourse. i thought the services would get an upgrade on us going up
You can get a cuppa at the van for £1. Or in the ground for £2:20? I think, haven't bought one for years. Likewise a bottle of water for 60p in the newsagent or £2:20 in the ground. Don't get me started on the chips. There's a culture in Britain of Football clubs ripping off their loyal fans, and as long as fans comply it will continue.
Clubs could charge £6 for a beer, £5 for a pie, and fans will still pay it. These people will still moan about the service and overlook they are getting ripped off. Strange.
It seems that the best teabags are square (Twinings and Yorkshire), next best are pyramids (PG Tips), and the worst ones are round (Tetley and own-brand).
Oddly enough, Yorkshire ordinary loose leaf tea is much better than Yorkshire Gold, which is more expensive.
