One thing that is certain is that Oriol can only be in the team as the base of the centre 3 in midfield, he is mightily effective in that role and we have a lot more control of a match.
Only seen the score, quick summary of the game? Mate text me saying apparently we were really lucky but never know if he is taking the piss or not
We deserved at least a draw and produced a real piece of quality that Sheff Utd don't possess to win it.
When the fixture list was published I thought that the opening sequence of matches would be really difficult. Burnley looked the easiest of the games prior to Bournemouth match. I did not expect that we would have picked up 7 points and have to say that I consider them as a bonus. We are always a team that starts the season slowly and August / September usually needs to be completed before the league tale starts to make sense. I have to say that this is a decent start given that the performances have not really got in to gear. I have a feeling that we will really start ticking around November, once the City game is out of the way. The way the table is shaping up, I feel this season could mirror Koeman's first season in charge.
Sofiane Boufal, you scared the **** out of them today. Did a lot right today. Should have done better with his first half chance, but I thought he was excellent and at the centre of most things we did going forward. Such a talent, even when things don’t come off. One of my favourite moments was in the first half and we’d been under pressure, he got the ball near the half way line and twisted and turned up a blind alley that resulted in Sheff Utd having a throw near their own corner flag. Relieved the pressure beautifully and allowed us to regroup. Someone earlier mentioned we miss someone to pass through balls to him, Redders and Djenepo. Just leave that to Boufal. A few times today he found or tried some good passes through. Just a few more games in a row.
One of those matches where any result would have been fair, really. We were hardly dominant, but had a number of good goal-scoring opportunities, and they had some gilt-edged chances that ought to have resulted in a goal (or four).
Just a word for McGoalDrought for Sheff Utd. I thought he worked his socks off today and lead the line well for the blades. Still can’t finish a sh1t though.
Good to hear. Nothing I like more than a player who comes back from the queue to the scrapheap and turns it around Someone said Djenepo = Mane v2.0 I think Mane took longer to look this good and Djenepo lacks his pace but may just have more tricks on the ball ... and ones that produce a product So v2.0 looks like an enhancement to me
Real man love for him today. That just topped it. I would have tried to punch Hughes to be fair #AllIsFogiven
And what a difference it makes when you have multiple players like that. We didn't get the passes right, but Adams had a much more free hand to make runs because defenders were getting sucked in by Djenepo and Boufal.
Mind you, if he is confusing his own supporters, what must it be doing to opposition teams. Game plans out the window. We are on a journey #don'tstopbelieving
Ralph getting a lot of praise today, but I have to say we lost our momentum going forward when he took Djenepo off. Managers before him used to take off Tadic, which lost us an important player for relieving pressure. I thought Djenepo, at the time was helping to keep them on the defensive, yet as soon as he went it was like the Alamo, as they threw everything at us, overloading our left side in particular. Still it’s the result that counts.
Really good result as Utd had started well. Brilliant goal by Djenepo Romeu was our best player Shame Sharp got sent off
