Don't get me wrong I love Saints but I find watching a live game very painful because it means so much to me. I'm excited when the ticket arrives, a bit nervous (as now) when match is imminent, but will be in bits tomorrow (especially if other results have gone against us). I have moved seats and the lady next to me at half-time asked if I had the seat permanently. I thought she was being nice, but later it occurred to me she was thinking, I hope I'm not sitting next to this gibbering idiot all season. Strangely, I think our early success has made this worse. Am I alone..I think I know the answer to that one!

I enjoy watching them when they play well but when the game is scrappy i cant bear to watch as it could go either way. After a narrow win i enjoy the walk back to the ferry safe in the fact that we got the result (has happend a lot latley haha) :D

I enjoyed the Millwall game in retrospect, but at one point KD came out to collect a ball from a defender's feet and I heard a silly woman shriek, then realised it was me!

I found last season very painful, it was relief when we won rather than joy due to the amount of pressure on us. I'm thoroughly enjoying this season though. We are playing breathtaking football with no pressure on us and I'm finding it a joy to watch. At the Ipswich game when they scored 2 back to make it 3-2, although I was nervous, I was also thinking "What a brilliant game." This season, I'm not too bothered if we lose, as long as I know we have put 100% in.

Oh you should see the women who sits 2 rows in front of me. Always goes down to the tunnel before the match, really nice and everything. You think she would be the lovely grandmother who bakes cookies for her grandkids but when it comes match time she really sets off. Shes sooo funny shouting at the ref and such quotes as 'my grandsons sunday league ref is better than you !'
Gotta love the passionate fans !

I don't know what your pre-match preparations are but I can thoroughly recommend a pint or two before kick off. Not being a seasoned drinker myself, this puts me into a strangely unconcerned world where the opposition pose no threat whatsoever. By half time and the drink induced carefree state wearing off, we are usually winning anyway so the second half passes by stress free. It's a proven method<cheers>

But it never goes tits up in the world of drink, that's what so good about it. Fishers Pond is actually an area with a few people in it, not just fish.

I really look forward to the match and at the moment Saints are playing some fantastic football. The win is the main thing, but I am not devastated if we lose, provided we played well. The worst feeling is when the Ref has coat us the game, and I feel like he has nicked the cost of the tickets from my back pocket. The games which cause the fret and nausea are the matches which really matter; play-offs, the run in, the JPT final. Fortunately the team has settled my nerves quickly of late. :)

Watching the matches is a lot less nerve-racking than listening on the radio.

Started this season thinking i'd be happy with a comfortabe season and a few brilliant games with lots of entertainment and great football,we have had that already but now because we have started so well and we are at the top end of the table i am starting to want to really challenge for the top spots and nerves have come back,i want to win every game and really go for it but in reality i know there will probably be a big crash somewhere along the line and i'm not looking forward to it,like you said fran maybe if we started a bit less impressively and sitting midtable we'd be less nervous,i also couldn't stand it if we started losing and poyet and brighton stayed up there, dunno why because they're not our rivals but i just can't stand them, especially poyet! All in all though i go to a match quite relaxed but when it kicks off i get nervous,no matter how many times i keep telling myself it's not the be all and end all if we lose.

I enjoy watching the games as things are at present. I used to lose fingernails and pounds of weight in the past when even a 3 goal lead felt like no guarantee of a result.......

The only time I didn't enjoy watching Saints was the season we got relegated. Every other time, it's been brilliant.

Shameless plug for my charity, kindly donate to my Saints ticket fund to get to games at Uni! <laugh>

So it is, but I call it home. The area, not the pub I hasten to add.

I'm more confident these days that, when we're 2-0 up with five minutes to go, we're going to take the 3 points and not contrive to stuff it up somehow. <laugh>
