Yeah they have given it a right good go and moved the ball around quite nicely at times. And one phrase the commentator has used throughout, about Kosovo, is “Good first touch”. Some of their control from long passes has been top notch.
Felt like an old school (that's 1990s!) football with very end to end football, not playing percentages! Some abysmal defending from England and Kosovo overloading the wings left our fullbacks in trouble. An enjoyable watch and hopefully some of the younger Southampton players/youth got to learn from seeing this at the stadium or training ground.
It was a perfect example of how to play big teams on the counter. Kosovo overloaded the wings where team like City and Liverpool leave space as they have their fullbacks so high up the pitch.
Been finding it hard to muster enthusiasm for international football of late, but that was excellent - fast, action packed and loads of fun. We'll get punished against stronger opposition but what else is new.
