Yeah not a bad idea !
The other week I was in an ale House in Hull and 3 people came in .
They sat down at the next table and got their phones out and didn't speak .
I left 5 mins later and they still hadn't spoke to each other .

It's a simple rule, if you want to make a call then go into the beer garden. It was punters who wanted the rule brought in initially anyway and it works. No mobiles phones in the bar. They aren't arseholes about it. If somebody texts you and you need to have a look they aren't going to throw you out. People talk to each other and the place feels like somewhere you can just relax without the outside world constantly interrupting.

There's no 50" TV's on the wall showing sports channels. No Jukebox and no fruit machines. The entertainment is live music and it's traditional Cornish and Breton. It's a proper old pub and it's always rammed. It's like walking into a how a pub would have been in the 18th century.

Glad all these old eye sore pubs within localities are closing down...****in dives and bring the value of all the surrounding buildings down with them. i can appreciate a nice looking country house pub whilst driving past though.

It's become a worrying trend with people and their mobiles. They are using it to either avoid social interaction, or because they are so bored with their family and friends they can't be asked to talk. What's even worse, parents are giving their children their mobiles to keep them quiet ie by playing games or watching children progammes/films. Sadly the latter, they will be losing valuable interaction and social skills, other than that at the end of a device.

I was asked a question once, how did you and your friends used to meet up before the days of mobile phones, it was a stunned silence when I replied you used to go and knock on their front door! Thinking back on it now, it got you out for the exercise and as you might not have known who was going to answer the door, encouraged your interactional skills.

Did anyone else get grounded for like 2 weeks as a kid then become so annoying in the house you cut your sentence in half.

    They were the days.

Defo mate. If I stayed in, it was because I was being punished.

I would rather get a hammering than be kept in, any day of the week. Can't beat your freedom.
