Fair enough mate, family is always going to come first. You must get a wee bit depressed though when you leave the house in the morning and rather than sweltering heat your met with the fine British weather we are enjoying right now
At least I can go to bed and not worry about waking up with a lizard on my fore head . The word sweltering conjures up a vision of hell , give me a fine drizzle any day of the week .
I wouldnt care about the lizards, I'd be more worried about getting into the ozzy habbit of shaking out my shoes before I put them on to make sure there wasn't a funnelweb in there!!!
Not to mention the Inland Taipan. The most venomous snake on the planet , one bite has enough poison to kill one hundred humans or 250,000 mice . Strewth Bruce that's ****ing mental ! I've also heard of stories of people in Oz going to get in their car to find a great big **** off crocodile sat on their drive having a snooze . I'm not sure sat is the right term but you know what I mean . Rack off Ramsey !!!!!!!
When I finished Uni in 1995 there wasn't much going so worked at Hornsea Pottery for a year paid off my student loan, worked in Isreal on a Kibbutz for a few months then came back to UK again.. had various interviews but no offers.. worked at a pub in Beverley for a while then Careers Centre suggested teaching English abroad, so I gained a CELTA and have been living and working abroad since 1997.. Russia, Turkey & now France.. taxes are quite high here though.. I consider myself quite fortunate that since age 14 I've always had some sort of job.. part time or full.. paper round, supermarket, chicken farm, butcher's shop, pub, factory, teaching.. I even top up my earnings with private lessons here as I don't have a big salary.. end of the day though, like you I would do anything cos my parents gave me and my sister the work ethic.. keep plugging away, take qualifications and training when you can, if you're hard-working and honest & get on with people then things will work out.. good luck..
I've recently did my CSCS card and asked Job Centre about my Fork Lift, but said I hadn't been on JSL long enough. I've applied for McDonalds
Jokes about the Swansea lads are completely unacceptable at this time. I might have something happening in the next few months TheCasual, nothing definite yet, but if it all comes together, then I'll get you in for a chat. I've bookmarked this thread and if I can help, I will.
Fair play to you pal ,good luck and with the attitude to appear to have something is bound to come up soon .
wouldnt hang your hopes on that they turned me down even tho i had 3 years chef experience and 2 years working for fast food department of two holiday camps!!!!! ****ers haha
I didn't think McDonalds would have such high standards that they would reject someone with your experience. Maybe you were too intelligent
I went up to Sunderland once for an interview at Burger King and didn't get it.. feeling sick and being sick in the shopping centre didn't help.. also went all the way down to Southampton to try and get a job on the P&O Cruise ships.. no result.. even though I've been to Trinity House School.. ARCO in Hull said no thanx, Coes of Derby no thanx, brewery in Burton was a rejection.. The key thing is to learn is don't take rejections personally, the law of averages will work eventually.. a lot of it is about being in the right place at the right time or knowing someone who knows someone.. if you get wind of an opportunity get down there first..
It's not just Hull mate, it's most places. My Dad was out of work for 6 months (after working solid for 25 years) before he finally up sticks and left for Brazil. He says it's the best decision he has ever made, he even found himself a wife who's 20 years younger than him When I finish Uni I'll be coming out of a years industry placement, so that should help me when applying for jobs, but I'm fully expecting it to be a royal pain in the arse getting one.
not sure what it was as im not that intelligent and i was a supervisor a second chef and a head chef in all that time aswell lol think i was too experienced for maccy ds haha
tell me bout it that maccy ds job was in poole and they have at least 2 here they coulda put me in haha oh well glad i didnt now
