Ben White has been terrific but a lack of height at corners and free kicks worry me. Whatever we think Pontus used to win the lions share of those headers but we can't keep having repeats of the Forest and Swans game where we should have had a cigar on before either scored.
BREXIT LATEST I'm not suggesting it's looking bad for Boris Johnson but Paul Gascoigne has just arrived at 10 Downing Street with a fishing rod and a cooked chicken.
But if you go on valuation. Our wingers in order are. 1. City want 20 million for Harrison 2. We are going to pay 15 million for Costa. 3. Clarke cost spurs 10 million. Cant argue with 'facts'
But if over the season we concede fewer goals then we will surely gain more points, especially as our attacking options have improved. We look so solid that hopefully our are bad days are better and our good days are better as well.
Don't disagree but one goal against Forest and one against Swansea has cost us 4 points at home, need to start scoring from chances created or we will always put our defence under pressure no matter how much of a reduction they make in goals conceded. Actually think we are going to win more away from home when home supporters won't want their teams sitting so deep against us. Another reason I want Costa & Eddie to play at home because the extra pace could be crucial against teams that want to sit tight (or we need to score early to force them to be more attacking).
Perhaps you might find this interesting... After Klich was substituted (72nd min), with Costa coming on and Hernandez moving inside we conceded 4 of the 5 corners that Swansea had in the match. I previously mentioned how in the last 20 mins there was a sense that Swansea could nick the game even though they had been pretty toothless throughout. Obviously we had to try to win and I'm fully supportive of that but there are consequences to changing our preferred starting formation and in particular to taking Klich off which I have noticed many times, not just on this occasion.
Or it could have been they thought, Hay we still have a shot at winning this, and went for it. With Eddie and Costa on, we looked a threat, where as with Klich we too had looked toothless.
It's home that's a problem, that's where we concede and don't score many. 2 goals in 3 games won't go anywhere and neither will 4 home points from 9.
Fast Eddy scored his first tonight in 4 minutes and now has scored his 2nd Eddy had a few chances last week and missed the target but hey thats how it rolls with strikers and we are 2 points better off this season BUT we are suffering with a cack conversion rate again. 1 or 2 more conversions would have seen as top of the league and still in the cup. F you have the best winger in the league and a potential superstar striker, you find a place for them in my book.
Said that a few days ago, it's time for the best 11 to start, and Eddie and Costa are easily in the first 11.
Think it’s too early in the season to draw those conclusions. Sides are more likely to have a go on their own patch - which opens up the game and can go either way. Most of them come for a point at Elland road and hope to get lucky on the break. That was the pattern last year too. We just have to be patient at home, it’s how it is. If we score the opposition have to show more ambition and we get get a chance to get a few more. If we don’t get the early goal we’ll have games like Swansea and forest. Think we’ll have a lot of frustrating tight games at home and a fair few we win at a canter.
Like you said, teams did the same last season, stopped us going up in the end, don't want to go down that same route again and don't need too, we have Eddie and Costa, players who can rip defences to pieces,we need to be more attacking at home, even Bamford says so, we need Eddie and Bamford to start together.
Jammy’s right about the starting 11 knowing their roles and doing softening up job that gives costa and Eddie a bit more time and space when they come on. Think we’ll end up with costa starting and Pablo at 10 whenever mb thinks costa has learned the ropes sufficiently. Re the point made about klich going off. Often thought it was coincidence or just circumstance of the time of the game but we always seem to give up space and field position when klich goes off.
Don’t disagree, and I think we will see that - think he just wants them ingrained in bielsa ball first
