yeah but they let him go for less than they had been after due to the "mental health" & "bullying" claims. If they were for real he really is in the wrong career.
Any job where you are in the public eye is difficult for someone of a sensitive disposition, even more so if there is a competitive element to it. You're going to get some who love you and some who hate you, and plenty of public abuse, even from those who are supposedly on your side. How you handle it is crucial. Contrast Lovren with van Dijk - Lovren went to pieces when he got abuse from Saints' fans whereas Virgil just laughs it off. I'm sure that if he decides to move on he won't give a **** what we think either.

Liverpool are tracking Trabzonspor's £14m-rated goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir. The Reds watched the 23-year-old Turkey international during a 1-1 draw with Fenerbahce last weekend. (Mail)
EXCLUSIVE By Pete O’Rourke Liverpool have set their sights on signing Wigan centre-forward Joe Gelhardt and could get him ahead of the January window, Football Insider understands. The Champions League holders are plotting a move for the striker, 18, after selling prolific youth-team scorer Bobby Duncan to Fiorentina on Monday. A Liverpool source has told Football Insider that the club can sign Gelhardt outside of the transfer window as he would be a youth signing rather than a senior one.
Who are the real cheque book managers/clubs? Take a look at the following table on this site: https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/premier-league/fuenfjahresvergleich/wettbewerb/GB1 Liverpool and Spurs and even Chelsea now are pretty much neck and neck in net spending over the last 5 years. Their spend over that period is 1/6 of City’s and 1/4 of Utd’s.....I suspect Utd’s spend was somewhat curtailed by offering huge salaries to duff signings. You have to be concerned to see the likes of Brighton and Bournemouth spending significantly more than us. What fate lies in wait for them if they don’t stay up!? Interesting to see this and shows just what a good job LFC/Klopp have done in the last 4 years.
Interesting how the media spin the story as "Spurs spend nothing on their team" whereas "Liverpool buy the most expensive players in the world" when we basically spend the same amount The complete failures of Arsenal and Everton despite their high spending also goes under-reported
Banks up what I was saying about Chelsea not spending any more too Not aimed at you KKK, unless you was who I was talking to at the time
Wasn’t me mate. Obviously Chelsea’s spend would be much higher had they been able to spend this window so that particular figure is somewhat skewed.
Chelsea spent a lot during the tenure of Jose Mourinho and kept spending there after. Not that Roman Abramocih is running out of cash, but has other business interests. Manchester city has taken over now and they are slowing down too.
MOURINHO’S BIG VAN DIJK REGRET Jose Mourinho reportedly turned down the chance to sign Virgil van Dijk from Southampton prior to the Dutchman’s move to Liverpool 18 months ago. Mourinho became frustrated at the club’s unwillingness to buy him another centre back towards the end of his Old Trafford tenure but according to The Independent he turned down the best of the lot before the Reds moved in. The Portuguese had already signed two central defenders by that point in Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof and the report claims he did not see buying another as a priority when it was presented to him at a meeting with the United hierarchy. The Independent then go on to say that he quickly changed his mind a couple of months later and decided that a centre back was indeed a priority for him, although by that point Van Dijk was already at Liverpool.
written as though they were the ones who turned him down. We all knew where he wanted to be at that time...
We just have to accept that as one of the biggest clubs in the world, we are under close scrutiny....whereas the much smaller clubs you mentioned are not even on journo’s radar.
