Maybe I'll be wrong but I thought the favourite looked like an accident waiting to happen in this race.

Arabist is 4/7 and almost the unanimous choice of the tipsters after being runner up last time. The trouble for me is that it didn't look a good race he was in last time. The Evs favourite ran a shocker for Henry Candy, beaten more than 30 lengths but despite that Arabist was still pretty cosily beaten to the tune of four lengths. By Invincible Spirit, Arabist isn't bred for the 12F ish trips he's been running over, so one can only assume he had shown little in the way of pace.

I am interested in the other Gosden horse, Swift Wing, who may be misnamed in terms of the pace aspect of his handle but his first run works out the same as the favourite on Racing Post Ratings. Swift Wing was 3rd on debut and then filled the same spot when odds-on next time out. The ground was Heavy that day though and punters sort of forgave him because he went off quite a short price as joint favourite with blinkers on next time. One again Swift Wing was 3rd but this time they decided he needed more drastic help and he was gelded two weeks later. He keeps the blinkers on today but in the hope that he can benefit from the gelding process and bearing in mind his stablemate's modest enough form, I would rather risk a small bet at 10/3 than wade in on a favourite at 1/2.

If Arabist trots up then so be it but I reckon there will be better bets than him in terms of risk/reward tomorrow.

    1.50 Haydock Swift Wing 10/3

Interesting race, Noble Music looked like a 2 miler in the making last time, step up in trip will definitely see her in a better light but might not be enough of a test. Swift Wing showed plenty of natural ability on his first 2 runs but he comes from quite a strange family who dont win a lot despite their ability and the gelding and blinkers doesnt look good, his last run was a big step backwards. Arabist was very green on debut when 5th behind Logician, he took a big step forward next time travelling well and staying on nicely once angled out for a run but the winner had flown. That form gives him every chance and while he doesnt look particularly quick, hes straightforward and if he takes another step forward I dont see him getting beat in this company, can see why Dettori picked him.

Love the Invincible Spirit in the 2nd race as well Danyah, dam was a very precocious 2yo for Jim Bolger, ran 2nd in the Guineas and this looks the best prospect she has produced so far. He looked a class above on debut when travelling strongly in behind, proven on the ground and should be able to defy the penalty provided there is nothing special among newcomers.

I was strong against Illumined last time at Kempton and she got beat but I was on the wrong one, she looked quirky again throwing the race away in the final furlong and id be keen to take her on here in the hope that the outsider keeps her honest in front. Specialize looks progressive and the form of her last run has worked out well enough, she got boxed in and finished fast after switching out wide for a run. The winner and 4th from that race ran 2nd and 3rd off marks in the low 90s at Goodwood and the 3rd has won since as well.

Later on ill give Sinjaari one more chance, he has some excellent form in the book in strong handicaps and I thought he was a group horse in the making earlier in the season. His run at Ascot was a write off with Doyle giving him a very strange ride on the other side of the track, he bounced back at Goodwood and id be disappointed if he couldnt beat Epaulment in receipt of the best part of a stone.

    Lingfield 4.15 Sea Tea Dea

Not far away from the winner last 4 runs. Runs much better since trainer Adrian Wintle took over 6 runs ago and today he found a really winnable race for Sea Tea Dea with several unreliable sorts in the field. Very talented Finley Marsh booked. On a very tempting mark. Ran well at Lingfield in the past. Looks to have a sound each-way chance at a generous price.

    Sedgefield 1.30 Richard Strauss

Formerly with Joseph O'Brien.Runs consistantly well over hurdles: 16322. Last 2 wins (1 on the flat) were on fast going which he will get today. Step up in trip should unleash further improvement.Good conditional booked who takes off valuable 10 lb. Enough positives to expect a bold show

yes,a possible, but i think,NEVER A WORD looks well worth a small wager.hes still a maiden, which is a bit worrying, but stepped up on recent efforts last time out in second, with the third 16 lengths away, which gives the form a solid enough look.also on the same mark today,so decent shout..

Wednesday; O’Brien says Ten Sovereigns is very doubtful for the Sprint Cup. Drifts to 6/1.

    Sedgefield 2.00 : Tomorrow's Angel

Didn't disappoint in 2 runs over hurdles. Fit from the flat.Stable in good form. The fav flopped last time. No reason why Tomorrow's Angel shouldn't steal it from the front in a tactically run race

She ran a nice race in defeat and for a long time looked like giving the jolly a fright. Still looks like she needs further as Eddie pointed out but surely will lose her maiden tag before too long.

LUCKY ROBIN is the clear form horse here, and after two good wins over hurdles, reverts to fences on a 10 lbr lower mark.so,he ticks a lot of boxes today.

a trappy race, with nearly no form to go on,but KENZAI WARRIOR could be interesting here.his small yard brings out good horses from time to time, and he shouldnt be totally overlooked today,at least e w..

Our old friend Summer Romance reappears in the Dick Poole at Salisbury today. After looking top class in her first two starts the daughter of Kingman then flopped when odds-on for the Princess Margaret at Newmarket. I had wondered going into that race whether she was in the correct race taking on fillies who were probably pure sprinters. In the end she was held up and never picked up well enough to get involved.

The performance last time and now moving on to the Dick Poole next time suggest that the one time 1000 Guineas favourite is not going to tread the path of a typical 1000 Guineas prospect and having backed her for that race before her second start, I have pretty much already ruled her out as a realistic contender for the Classic. When fillies are still running at 6F in September I feel they are probably going to be sprinters at 3YO.

So what of Summer Romance today? She takes on fillies who were ahead of her last time and at the same distance why should she 6/4 when some of them are much bigger?

Dark Lady was 4th in the Princess Margaret and went on to run well in good races at 7F without quite convincing that she stayed that far. Back at 6F she may have a shout here but her earlier 4th place was a shade disappointing and she may just be a filly that would be ideal over a very easy 7F.

Good Vibes was 5th in the Princess Margaret after racing freely in the lead before weakening late. Bizarrely held up when dropped to 5F next time she simply never got involved and although she was 3rd in the Lowther next time back at 6F, I felt that was a poor renewal for pure speedsters and I doubt Good Vibes really improved 7 lbs, having started to look exposed prior to that race and Favourite Liberty Beach was a shade disappointing that day.

Millisle comes over from Ireland for Jessica Harrington and she brings 5F form to the table. Turned over at 1/2 on her second start she bounced back with a staying on late performance to land a Listed event last time out. Her bare form is similarly rated to the best of these and with the extra furlong looking likely to suit it is easy to see why she is 2nd Fav in most lists. I am not sure about her with the 6th furlong and different ground today when added to a weak looking affair she won last time. I think 9/2 is poor value on Millisle.

The once raced winners Final Option and Dear Power should improve and they ran to a similar level based on RPRs on their debuts but they didn't win races that looked up to much. I prefer the Varian filly, who cost 350,000 Guineas and she is a daughter of Acclamation. She looked less ready to me for her debut than Final Option did for hers and she was a bit keen in behind the leaders before coming through strongly to win well at Chelmsford. Entered in the Rockfel and Chevely Park, she needs a big step forward today but I thought she looked as if the race would do her a lot of good last time and she has scope. Final Option is a nice looking filly and she came away from her field at Ripon last time. I think she was tighter looking than Dear Power and she also gave me the impression 7F might be what she wants now.

In the end I couldn't back Summer Romance at 6/4 and Dark Lady is just a bit exposed to be value at 6/1. Millisle is short given trip/ground questions and I decided one of the lightly raced 1 for 1 fillies was the answer here. Final Option is the better backed filly but I went with Dear Power to improve enough to justify her Group entries and at 14/1 it's low cost interest in the race.

    3.40 Salisbury Dear Power 14/1

Well Arabist won but it was pretty hard work for him. Noble Music served it up for a long way before he got on top. Swift Wing was slowly away and outpaced but stayed on late to grab the runner up spot, beaten a length.

Had to laugh at the race report for Swift Wing, which stated "Almost snatched second", it was SO almost that he WAS second.

My goodness, these looked Sloooow horses. I was almost expecting to hear the commentator say "And they're coming to the elbow......"

SUMMER ROMANCE was a boil over job at Newmarket. Looks a different beast here in the preliminaries today and I can see her winning this quite cosily.

Disappointed with that but the winning filly has been pretty consistent and deserves to win a race like this.
