I find it amusing that when its to hold an election that is something we do every 4 - 5 years anyway, we need a 2/3 majority. But when its a massive, expensive, decision that is very hard to reverse like leaving the EU, 51-49 is fine.

Well said, Sir. One disagreement. NEVER, EVER FORGET this government. Never re-elect this utterly biased towards the few government, with its out-dated trickle down policies, which benefit nobody except those who don't need any more. And never forget its total incompetency. I have honestly been ashamed to be a British citizen, at times, because of the policies and attitudes this government has fostered. They want a return to the 19th century of forelock tugging and knowing one's place, when we need to be looking forward towards the middle of the 21st century, confident that we can meet and exceed the tasks and demands that this century will require of us, so that ALL of us can at least have half decent living standards, free of major worry. At the beginning of the 2020's, in this so-called 5th richest economy, this shouldn't be something we need to aspire to. It should be a birth right. Unfortunately, because of the policies of inequality that this government has actively sought, we're still trying to achieve it. Someone once said, I have a dream. Well, I have a memory. And I won't forget.
Said the same about the Liberals when they formed the coalition & did nothing. Said the same about Labour the last time they screwed up. I guess I'm for the Green party ..............forever more.
To put it in perspective. The Liberals were the junior party in the coalition and they stopped several austerity measures, although they also made huge mistakes in their pursuit of power and Proportional Representation, which got laughed away in the Alternative Vote referendum. That was a missed opportunity for ordinary electorate, which showed its usual ignorance. What they ought to have done is pressed Gordon Brown when he said NO to a coalition. The last time the Labour party got themselves elected I seem to remember that for quite a long while the country felt pretty good about itself. Granted it went sour after the Iraq war, and the Labour Party tore itself apart while the Tories stood by laughing and waiting for their chance. The Greens just need to get themselves into a position of being a creditable, electable party, and not just a party of principle and protest. They represent the single most important issue on the planet. And yet many people just turn a blind eye, either thinking that it is all a hoax, because it is inconvenient to think otherwise, or they just don't care about their children or grand-children, or their own future. Or they don't know enough to join the dots, or don't want to know enough because it might reveal the truth to them. This is the task for the Green Party. Get in people's faces. Make people listen. Because the present government is likely to do nothing if they survive. And a significant proportion of the population will be happy to tag along and let them, believing that 'they must know better'. Which they do. They just don't care enough.

I disagree. Despite every effort by our appallingly biased media in this country to portray Labour as hopeless divided and Corbyn as useless, the Labour Party under JC has actually kept it’s discipline remarkably well. This is without doubt a tribute to the leadership, which is the only party leadership in Britain to even attempt to unite both sides of the Brexit rift which has split the country in two. If you examine the Labour Party’s slowly shifting position throughout the last 3 years objectively, ignoring the clamour from all sides intended to discredit JC, it reflects genuine efforts to re-unite a disunited Kingdom. Consistently criticised for “sitting on the fence” and being slow to pick a side, the Labour leadership is in fact the only leadership trying to reach across the gulf dividing communities up and down the country.
