That would mean they were near milkshake on a daily basis. MacDonalds would probably sell a lot more of the dreadful stuff.
If Johnson is so confident of getting a deal he should offer the Scots indy ref 2 in the event of no deal. Divide and conquer?
How long before our twatish opposition(s) figure that if they stick together, we can 'leave' the EU with an even more wishy-washy leave deal than the May deal, i.e. leave the EU and join the EEA? All they need to do is to call Johnsons bluff, trigger a vote of no confidence in the government. when they win the Queen would have to ask the leader of the opposition if he could form a government. He could propose a unity government led by any of the rebel 21 and providing the opposition parties stuck together, they could engineer staying in 1, the customs union, 2, Free trade group providing they accept freedom of movement and the ECJ. They would have to pass a motion of confidence within 14 days. It would satisfy the referendum result of leaving the EU, solve the NI border issue and p!ss off a lot of people. (Farage, Grease bag, Johnson, Gove, Cash etc.) It could actually be done on 31st October providing there was an agreed transition period, which I'm sure the EU would agree to. Johnson isn't that clever, but Cummings may be. Currently the opposition(s) are running scared of the mechanisms that are in place to remove a rogue government because they think the government want one. Cummings may have factored that in.
It's not so much "running scared", more the case that people with an ounce of common sense have been waiting for the the Lib Dems and The Independent Hashtag Change Group For Hashtag Change Hashtag Now Ltd to slowly cotton on to the fact that they're the ones who are throwing spanners in the works of those same mechanisms - although considering how quiet Jo Swinson has been for the past week, somebody may have had a quiet word to inform her that she's spent the last month keeping Life of Brian relevant
One of these is a giant gasbag that cost the taxpayer an absurd amount of money, only to come crashing down in flames on its first day in the job The other is the R101 please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
Just a question sorry if I am being stupid - Can someone tell me does the EU have to agree to an extension if we request it or can they just say time is up and we need to move on? Goodbye and no deal happens as the default option even though we have passed a law stating this can't happen!
They need to remove Johnson before Parliament is prorogued otherwise this country will be leaving the EU with a no deal on the 31st October. Johnson has only said that he will obey the law. Cummings has a trick up his sleeve. Probably some kind of appeal w.r.t Royal Assent/Consent lodged on the 29th/30th October. Once Parliament has reconveined the government has 14 days to call an election or resign following a vote of no confidence. That will just be enough to take them over the line. Cummings has played a blinder, the only thing likely to stop him is a Motion of No Confidence between now and Monday and an alternative government being formed. Cummings knew he would lose the votes over the last two days and has put a plan into action to run down the clock. To succeed he needs Johnson still there on the 31st. The crap about them wanting an election before 31st is a red herring.
You are not stupid, all 27 countries have to agree an extension, but they will, because they don't want no deal.
Edit: Unless Johnson/Cummings/Grease Bagg or AN Other has persuaded/bribed/blackmailed a leader of one of the 27 to veto an extension.
This is what people fail to consider: do they honestly believe that, if the proven liar lost a No Confidence vote, he'd actually go? It was even being said last week that, if he did lose the vote, he'd carry on as if it hadn't happened (presumably after writing himself a pardon...) That's why it makes sense to get No Deal off the table first, the proven liar out the door second - because that not only removes the threat for the entirety of the 14 days Corbyn has to put together a cabinet, but would also streamline the process considerably due to there effectively being two options available (find a deal, or cancel the entire trainwreck) instead of the three (find a deal, cancel the trainwreck, or decide to set the trainwreck on fire with No Deal) This is why Cummings hasn't played a blinder: if his plan was to catch Corbyn in a trap with a snap election, Corbyn called his bluff - and with MPs passing a bill to oppose No Deal, handing the proven liar his second major Commons loss in the space of 24 hours, he's looking as hapless and ineffective as Nick Timothy
Move on ?? With 8bn pa gone from their coffers, and possibly up to another 10bn pa lost in trade tariff costs SOMEBODY must have that Rowan Atkinson NTNON EEC sketch.
Only time will tell, but I don't think Cummings is an idiot but even an idiot could have predicted Johnson losing these votes. I think Cummings' plan was to avoid a Motion of No Confidence this side of the prorogation.
On the other hand, Cummings has overseen the Tory majority vanish completely, first with the Brecon & Radnorshire byelection and now Philip Lee crossing the floor to join the Lib Dems (and the lack of comment about how a Tory could feel welcome there has been deafening...) - the former he probably saw coming but expected to lose by a few hundred votes instead of 8000 (or, to put it another way, 80% of the people who didn't turn out to vote compared to 2017), the latter seems to have caught him off guard as Lee wasn't on the list of people to have the whip withdrawn
Or you could look at it as once he put his no deal Brexit plan into place, he needed to purge the Tory Party of the Europhiles to move onto Phase 2, which I think will be use Johnson to win an election on the back of delivering Brexit, then sacrifice him, I said in a previous post that I thought Johnson will be the fall guy of Brexit.
