Just a thought for you all to ponder on.
When you vote for your chosen MP I suspect you vote for them because of the party they represent which in turn represents the ideals you live by.
All these MP's who took you vote on this understanding and then decide to switch their alliance to another party should resign their seat don't you think afterall they took your vote under false pretences.
Just shows we have no democracy left in this country.
Go Boris go kick the lot of them out.

MP's should not be allowed to switch from the party for which they were voted to another - that is not representing their constituency's declared mandate.

If they resign from the party for which they were elected, they should resign their seat and the constituency allowed to elect a new member that democratically reflects their wishes. Hanging on sitting under another party's banner and continuing to collect their salary is an outrage.

Agree in principle, however, it's not as simple as that.

If those rules were in place, they'd never resign - they'd wait until the party removed the whip from them. They'd still be an MP, but no longer umbilical to their party, giving them a free vote. Until the next election, that is!

    Basically, just won't happen.

EDIT: Another thought, given today's situation & Boris' threat - it could backfire on him. A lot of the people he plans to oust are more tory than he is. If they stood as Independent, there's a chance they could compromise a lot of tory seats by splitting the tory vote. Boris could possibly destroy the tory part. Can't wait! :D

Exactly. the self serving ****s wouldn't resign from their party if they had to go to the public again to be elected

There’s going to be an election in 1-3 month, most likely next month. It would be a stupid distraction to have a by election a week before a GE. I would expect most of the people who left both Labour and Conservatives in the last year will lose their seats, so it’s hardly a strategy for the cowardly. The cowards are the ones that sit there disagreeing but are too frightened to say anything.

Personally I think people vote for the party more than the individual so an MP changing party should trigger a bi-election.

    However

The reality is that you actually vote for an individual to represent you on your behalf... they are meant to make their own minds up on any issue... including which party they align themselves to.

This guy thinks bojo is a Cnut and doesn’t represent true conservative values (whatever the fck they are). So he’s exercising his right to go elsewhere. At the next election, if he stands, the constituents can vote for new Tory candidate and kick him out.

People from both remain and leave are bitching about ‘democracy’, but it takes many forms and most don’t understand how it is actually meant to work in this country.

Better off without the traitorous ****, always voted against the government anyway, so no loss.

As Dominic Cummings said “If you don’t like it, **** off, the door’s right there.”

Maybe he thinks his constituents didn’t want no deal, maybe he thinks his constituents were bullshitted to. Maybe he thinks they’re All fckwits and need saving from themselves. Maybe he just doesn’t give a **** about them or what they think.

I don’t know. It doesn’t matter bud. They voted for him. In doing so they gave him the power to do what he wants, vote how he likes etc. Until the next election, when they can kick him out.

That’s parliamentary democracy for you. He’s a representative not a delegate.

Jeremy Corbyn will sort the country out. What we need is a proper socialist in charge. I’m looking forward to it.

If I was an MP, I'm not or this BREXIT **** mattered, which it doesn't I wouldn't give the little twat the satisfaction of going to the country. I would let him stew in his own lies for a few months and see how the "we will be leaving on the 31st Oct come hell or high water" works out for him. Then I would call a vote of no confidence once the slimy twat had failed and shown to be the charlatan he always has been. But then I'm quite generous, but it's a burden I have to live with.

    Socialist utopia awaits.

Can’t wait to have a man of Jeremy Corbyn’s integrity and gardening skills in charge of our nuclear deterrent and public finances.

On the street I haven’t met a single Corbyn voter, I’m guessing he will target the college students again. It will be a very sad day indeed if we are run by Corbyn and Abbot. Brexit or remain it’s showed the country your vote doesn’t matter, Parliament will push through laws and do their own thing when it suits them.

I don't think you will get the clarity of a single party having an overall majority if there is an election in October. BREXIT Party + Conservatives maybe, Labour and Liberals, perhaps, Liberals, Independents and SNP. Oh the fun you will have. Meanwhile in the real world........

My personal opinion is the Conservative party would come out with a majority government but Boris would need to sit down with the Brexit party first as they’d steal too many votes.

If I were him, I’d sack the traitors, not allow them to stand for election under the Tory banner and get some of the Brexit party on board to replace them.

Lib Dem’s would promise a referendum so they’d steal votes from Labour as Corbyn just wants power no matter what the cost so he’ll not offer enough for remainers.

Amongst the quieter older generation there is a lot of support for Brexit, they don’t take to the street protesting, they don’t shout their mouth off, they just vote loyally. There are a lot of people just wanting an end to this now and also a lot of people saying they won’t bother voting.

Those saying they will not vote will more than likely be the Labour or floater voters, conservative voters are far more loyal. I could be wrong but I’ve a feeling Conservative will come out far stronger.

For the record I’m a floater voter, I’ve voted UKIP, Labour and Conservative in the past, I voted Blair every time, I hated Cameron and Major, I voted once for Cameron when he promised a referendum, I voted May but since Thatcher I’ve never detested a politician more than I detest Corbyn
