In February I left a job I had four years because reduced they my hours from 35 to 13. Since then i've for a few agencies, but nothing reliable. I just can't find anything.

This is the first time i've had to sign on , the free time is doing heading. I really don't know how people cope being on long term JSL.

I'm even struggling to find jobs to apply for.

There is an nPower site in Hull, big office. Try sending your CV or checking their website for vacancies - they don't always advertise through agencies or in papers <ok>

It's the same everywhere. You can't be too picky at the moment when applying for jobs. I am in a job I hate but I am biding my time until something better comes along.

I would do anything. I've mainly got experience in factory and warehousing. But i've even tried call centres. Its just so depressing.

As a side note I have an interview Monday for a job on a short term contract till the New Year....I used to work there before & was subject to a disciplinary <whistle> You think they will check that **** out & it will be held against me?

Don't fancy travelling all that way hungover to **** only to not get the job because of it.

I did mechanical engineering at college and also did quite well at school. I'm not fussy about the job, I'll do anything

I think i read somewhere a quarter of households in Hull are jobless or something like that, bit crap really. You just have to keep trying bud, I'd stay away from agencies, they mostly jerk you around, try contacting companies direct where possible, you generally get a better response.

Yeah - but if it's one you have to go to, then do it. Even if it gets blown out. Can you/do you get expenses for going/attending? Grab 'em.

when i was 20 odd i had a job with vodafone in a call centre. i'd booked a holiday to the states..was told wouldnt be a problem and would be given the time off..kept waiting and waiting..couple of days before i was due to leave they told me they wouldnt let me have the time off. so i quit. didn't tell them, just didnt bother showing up again. went back 12 months later and got hired again. no standards!

I agree with you on the agencies. They do too much farting around and they treat you like **** if you dare question they way they operate.
