He did do well according to the media requirements. He managed to ignore enough Arsenal challenges to avoid having to send them and Rose off. He managed to not give a penalty to Spurs and spoil the day out for most at the Emirates. He further added to the Emirates delight by booking Spurs players at every opportunity. Although by a football fans reckoning he was a complete and utter twat as usual, the media loved their agenda's being fulfilled and the game must go on. Why did he spare Rose? In case we brought on an effective defender. All in a days work for a PL referee.
Until they bring in officials from other countries to man the VAR room, it cannot be considered a trustworthy or reliable barometer of decision-making. The current format is the equivalent of OFSTED going in to inspect a school, but all of the officers are best mates with the headteacher. It's just endless self-perpetuation of the problems. They need a far higher degree of impartiality in the whole process.
Hackett was extremely critical of the PL ditching the official reviewing his own decision on the pitch side screen. He admitted that his initial stated preference was to have an external review (as we currently have) but as that isn't working, he'd changed his mind. He said that there was little chance of the initial decision being overruled by the referee's mates. It's like getting a doctor to say that another doctor is ****ing incompetent....they have to be really well paid to do so. Otherwise you're ****ed.
The claim that amused me the most was that Kane initiated the contact. He got pushed in the back when he slowed down to try to control the ball. You literally can't initiate a push on yourself.
thats given a free kick anywhere else on the pitch...see it every weekend umpteen times. Refs are too weak
Not even weak They’re just not good enough. Sooner rather than later, there needs to be a massive overhaul of the refereeing system.
Not sure if it's already been mentioned here but Jan had some very positive things to say about the club this morning, stating that his time on the sidelines made him realise how important playing for Spurs is to him, and how much he loves playing for us. Tough love does, sometimes, do the trick.
Why didn’t Moura get any minutes? Think he would have thrived against that Arsenal defence dragging its feet in the last 20 minutes
I think the last Spurs shirt I bought was the 125th anniversary one... I may be tempted to purchase a new one:
We had no control of the midfield and he isn't a player who can fulfil that role. Alli and Gio came on to help us take back that control, which we did to a large extent. I was more surprised that we didn't see a more defensive 3rd change such as Davies for Rose, who was on a yellow and generally playing crap.
Remember when Sky showed another player a penalty incident and asked their opinion on it? No, me neither.
Yeah I didn't think he played ****e but against a tired defence I think a fresh Moura could have had them on their arses. Kane was gassed...nowt wrong with his performance. Last 10 minutes could have been fun with Moura on
Arsenal may have had a clearout this summer, but it's a bit of pruning when compared to Leeds who have got rid of 31 players. I didn't know Leeds had 31 players. Grot's gone!
Brief check: are the Goons still howling about how Harry Kane only scores penalties against their lot? Shut the **** up
