Who cares? Liverpool isn't in Lancashire and when it was it never felt like it truly belonged.

Why? The whole culture of lancashire towns is totally different. The accent(s) are totally different. The best thing to come out of lancashire is the East Lancs to come home!

If we can sing "We're not English we are Scouse" then we are most certainly saying "We are not Lancastrians".

I totally disagree, I'd much rather say I'm from Lancaster, than Merseyside, and it's also good wind up material for yorkie scum ;-)

Just because we have developed our own strong individual identity doesn't effect the history that we were originally part of the County. I don't feel the urge to disown Lancaster just because we have moved on.

    Agreed <ok>

Plus in all fairness they've played the majority of their home games at Aigburth this year anyway.

    Come on the Lancs <ale> <ale> <ale>

Lancashire has achieved a wonderful victory. Dave, you should be proud. As someone else on here said, Lancashire have played at Aigburth regularly for many, many years. My Dad played for Liverpool CC at Sefton Park, and was an electrician at Cammell Laird and English Electric. So....................

KPR/EMY, you're totally out of order with your ludicrous 'posh rounders' comment. Cricket is a highly skilled and thoughtful sport.

I have no argument with lancashire winning the County Championship - good luck to them. However, it has no relevance to me as I have never considered myself as Lancastrian - even my Yorkie out-laws accept the fact that I'm Scouse.

As for Lancs. C.C.C. playing at Aigburth that is truly a matter of convenience to them whilst Old Trafford is being re-built. Normally they would only play 1 tour match at Aigburth each season and will return to that as soon as possible.

I don't see what your Dad's sporting achievements have to do with this.

Not true, they've long played matches at Southport, aswell as Blackpool, regardless of the state of Old Trafford.

Liverpool IS historically in Lancashire, just like Manchester is. There isn't a county called scouse Dave, don't be such a churl.

Where the hell do you get off?

In every post on this thread I have said that I do not and never had considered myself as being Lancastrian and I therefore feel no alliegence sporting or otherwise to Lancashire. I owe neither you nor anybodyelse an apology for holding that view.

Where lancashire play their games is up to them. However, I am right when I said that historically they only played 1 game per year at Aigburth.
Further Liverpool WAS historically in lancashire if we are being accurate just as what is now Eire WAS part of the United Kingdom of England and Ireland.

My 'Dad' bit was aimed at KPR, not you. They normally play at least 3 games at Aigburth every season.

I don't consider myself a Lancastrian either particularly but I do consider Lancs to be my "local" team (for want of a better word).

I love my footy but have long enjoyed spending a day sitting in the sun, beer in hand at Aigburth soaking up a full days play <ok> and a whole days entertainment for less than half the price of going to Anfield for an hour and a half of football I think that kind of blows the myth about it being a "posh mans" sport.

My first game was early 80's a tour match between Lancs and the Windies and I remember even as a kid being gutted that Clive Lloyd was playing for the Windies and not his county :D I'm glad i've had the privilege over the years to see great sportsmen like Lloyd, Flintoff, Anderson, Chapple, Hegg, Murali playing a game I love and right on my doorstep.

I will raise a <ale> tonight to the team of 2011
