Alan Pardew

Something about this man recently is really getting to me, the way he always has to start Shola over any other striker. In the Fulham game after it was announced that Shola was injured we have been arguably more deadly infront of goal, with Leon Best once again staking a claim for the starting slot up front. Yet on Monday, after only just coming back from injury, Pardew decides to start Shola in a 4-4-2 with Best. Ok, this may not have sounded as bad at the time, despite most of us knowing what to expect from Shola, we had Best partnering him, but in that game Shola proved why he shouldn't be played. On his day he is a real handful, but his days are few and far between, bar the games against the Mackems he has one good game a season and for a striker that's just awful, but I don't need to tell you this. On Monday his laziness, first touch and overall play just proved he isn't a premier league striker, great at championship level, but certainly not the top flight. Now I'm not one of these haters of Pardew, I think he's done a really good job keeping the spirit in the team and working what can only be described as magic with the restraints from our board, but his insistence on playing Shola is nothing short of stupidity. We have a strong midfield and with the return of Hatem coming in the following weeks we should seriously be looking to play to our advantages and play Hatem with Best, as they played off each other really well against Darlo, but despite this, no matter how much I hope, he will no doubt always play Shola.

It gets to me with every manager, but it gets to a point where the only way I can tolerate it is ranting.

 

I'm still puzzled as to why they gave him a new contract.

 

I don't know what they see in him. Even the great Bobby was fully confident of his abilities. I've never seen a worse footballer. I'd gladly, GLADLY take Heskey over him. Heskeys goal count if far, FAR better than Shola's who in 200 games, has not yet hit the 50 goals mark. He's probably one of the worst footballers I've ever seen play football. And that's not exaggeration.

Him being a fostered Geordie does not change a damn ****ing thing.

Edit: Would just like to say, I mean I'd take Heskey over Ameobi if I had to pick between the two. In any other situation I'd gladly tell both to **** off.

 

In SBR defence, he was young and had potential back then, nowadays he's a piss poor striker who's nearing 30 and hasn't hit 50 goals in over 200 league appearences.

 

And in Hughtons defence, he thought the same about Ranger. I however (NOT GLOATING) instantly said to my fellow geordies watching the match against Ipswitch "This kid, is another Ameobi." Which they obviously disagreed with considering his man of the match performance, but now look.

In conclusion. Make me the manager.

Maybe it's just some misguided notion they have that the fans will want him to play due to the fact he's a "geordie".

 

The thing is though, i look at the situation we're in with our board and i don't think many other managers would/could do a job as well as he's managed

 

My fear is when HBA comes back and we play one up top, it will be Shola acting as our lone striker......

 

I have actually just realised, I have a strong hatred for Ameobi XD

He's got the heart, but the talent of a sand shrew.

 

I'm not being funny our out, but if he gets played this weekend I want to start a petition to be passed onto Pardew from fans which states that we don't want Ameobi ever played again. I don't want to be so offensive to the guy but he ****ing sucks and costs us points.

I agree with Raylors Right Foot actually. He is, if not THE, worst footballer I've ever seen.

In fact, I don't know the statistics, but surely Ameobi has one of the worst overall games to goals ratio for a striker in the entire league, ever?

Even Heskey's apps/goals ratio is 21% to Ameobi's 19%, and at least Heskey gets some assists and helps with overall play.

Can anyone think of anyone worse? Someone who has had a good run of games of course.

 

If Benjani can run faster than an old man with no legs doing the moonwalk. He's got something above Shola.
