Remember a few weeks ago how Spurs fans were up in arms at the thought of selling Danny Rose? Four games into the season and he's been a liability in every single one of them
Yeah but he runs around a lot Seriously do not get it. The bloke mugged over the fans, the manager, his team mates and the club by giving that twattish interview to the Scum and yet his crap performances in the two years since are ignored by loads of fans who still sing his name. I'd only sing if it was "lip up fatty" Yet every pundit rates him.
Was **** last season too and the one before...in fact he's been pretty **** since he made a cock of himself in that interview.
Distinctly recall several posters on here praising his form towards end of last season. Yes he was poor today but we all know what he’s truly capable of if he gets back to his best
Distinctly remember people liking him for his gritty performances and that hes tenacious and plays like he cares (i get that impression too). Some even bandied around him being a potential captain cause of these qualities. Hes very casual on the ball though
Two weeks to really sweat himself (if he wishes to) in training while the internationals are on, ready for the season resuming.
That’s all very well in theory but when you’ve been told you’re no longer required and not in the gaffer’s/club’s plans, only then to find yourself in the team and not sold, it sends very mixed signals. As a player, he must feel in limbo and unsure what to think. Yes, he’s not done himself any favours with past behaviour and lacking fitness but it seems to me he’s a player who’s feeling pretty unloved or appreciated yet expected to perform. It’s poor man management.
err nope as it needs to be a successful dive to get retrospective punishment . He needs a new technique instead of doing a Calvert-Lewin as that is now so passe
I missed 2 matches at wembley and whl last season and do not remember him playing above average tbh. But I do recall him being pisspoor a few times...the last NLD being one example but some fans only saw Trippiers poor form. Rose has my utter respect for his stance of mental health and racism but he is given an easy ride despite putting in as bad as or worse performances of others such as Trippiet, Winks, Lamela, Sanchez etc. Not digging at you by the way but his lack of loyalty and respect to fans really pissed me off.
In my opinion no one came out of that farce looking particularly good. I thought he was poor...offered next to nothing going forward which was a huge strength of his 2 years ago.
I just think several posters should be careful what they wish for. If he goes, we have to rely on a slow Davies or young Sessegnon who I think is a long way off from what some of us think he is. Just look at our RB situation. Several on here never wanted to see Trippier in a Spurs shirt again. Now we look a shambles on that wing and from last season’s dire performances, Foyth is not going to fill that void!
Rose was good in the second half of last season but he’s been terrible in the first four games of this. Admittedly, when you’re told you’re not wanted and even left at home for half of pre-season he has a case to say “well that’s why I’m bad” but this current Rose is nowhere near the guy we saw back in 15/16, 16/17 or parts of last season. Be very surprised if Davies isn’t starting against Palace, he should be fit to start by then.
Davies is a great defender though. He may lack the speed and athleticism to bomb back and forth but you can rest easy knowing he won’t be beaten often. I also thought he was superb in 17/18, the hernia injury messed last season up for him but now he’s had the surgery I’m hoping by the Palace game he’ll be fit to start. As for Tripps, I really stuck up for the guy in previous years but his form last season was tragic - he even knew it. Selling him was the right decision but not replacing him is where the problem lies.
He looked better than pretty much everyone else but by that stage the following were carrying injuries... Trippier, Davies, Vertonghen, Sissoko, Winks, Kane, Dele Alli, Eriksen, Lamela and Sanchez. He was with Toby Alderweireld and Lucas Moura, the only truly fit outfield players we had left (Sonny being exhausted post CL QF). He showed a fair bit of endeavour but no really great quality (barring the cross to Llorente against Watford). Once Davies and Sessegnon are fit, I don't see him getting too much game time. The fact that he keeps shooting his mouth off to the press is only part of the problem
Tbh he has done nothing to warrent the hype for 2 years. He was available for transfer yet only Newcastle came in for him and that tells its own story. Davies is a better defender than Rose in my opinion so he'd be an improvement on that front. I agree re Trippier as I spent all last season saying that a proper pre season could see him regain his form. I do not seriously turn on players (never moan at matches etc) like some do but Rose is a shadow of his previous self. As with Trippier I would have been loyal and supportive but to be honest why should I ? He showed no loyalty to me as a fan when he gave that trashy interview.
Haven't noticed too much of Rose as any attacking force, so on that basis alone I'd rather have a defender who doesn't give a goal or two away every game. Speed ain't everything.
