I read somewhere that Barbara Windsor eventually slept with him just because he continually pestered her to do so (probably in a charming sort of way). They had an affair which lasted a decade, so I guess he could walk the walk as well as talk the talk.

Today he'd be arrested and put on a register for ten years the first time he slapped her bottom.

Only ever been to one Old Firm game, in 1967, with some mates who supported Celtic. It was the Ibrox disaster, although it was so foggy that we had no idea what had happened until we heard the news when we got home. There is no game like it anywhere in the world for the degree of sheer hatred, although a lot of the fans who express this during the game work beside each other on Monday and it's all fine. In those days it was OK to sing The Sash, which was sung before every game. At school everyone supported the local team, and I could not understand coach loads of fans leaving Kilmarnock every Saturday to support Rangers and Celtic. Later of course I learned the reason why. Proud to support my local team then, proud to support my local team now.

Think your mind is foggy, as I trust you aren't trying to make a joke about the Ibrox disaster? That happened in 1971 mate.

Sorry, got it wrong. It was 67 fans got killed I think. It is just coincidence that that was the only Old Firm game I've attended. Each local derby is unique, whether it's Charlton Vs Millwall Killie Vs Ayr Utd or El Classico. Scotland Vs England used to be a great occasion too when we had top players.

You obviously don’t know FHB, who is one of life’s gentlemen.

He is 100% right about the bigotry that scars the Old Firm.

66 fans. That must have been a bit of an eye opener when you found out what happened.

It was. The pitch was frozen and the game shouldn't really have been played. But The Old Firm game isn't really the right place for neutrals.
4 times a season + cup games is too many Old Firm games. Too many times for any teams to play each other come to that.

The old firm games are the only games that make any money in Scotchland… Perhaps plus Hearts/Hibs... the real money spinners are the two old ladies.... cantankerous old biddles they are too!

If fans supported their local team instead of following the Old Firm Scottish football would be far healthier. I have no problem with Glaswegians btw.

Rangers fans are gloating tonight, after Aribo scored a world class goal for Nigeria v Brazil earlier today.

I hadn’t realised that Aribo was Nigerian.

I thought he had played for England at Under xxxx level.

He scored in his debut for Nigeria last month against Ukraine too. I think we have every right to gloat to be perfectly honest.

Why is any Charlton fan really interested in Joe Aribo anymore?

He's gone. He's playing his football somewhere else.

I have to say I generally like to see our ex players progress. And I have nothing against Joe.
I'd hugely prefer it if we could keep them and build a decent team. But tge days of bringing young players through to play for the first team - to build a team over several seasons, with afew good buys, plus the best of the youngsters- seem to be gone forever.
