Alledgedly Dominic Cummins sacks Home secretary Javids aide Sonia Khan who was summoned to a meeting with the prime minister's senior aide Dominic Cummings, about government leaks. The BBC's political correspondent, Iain Watson, said there appeared to be an informal investigation being conducted into the leak of the Operation Yellowhammer documents - commissioned under the previous regime at Downing Street - setting out the potential consequences of a no-deal Brexit. A Downing Street source had previously pointed the finger for the leak at an unnamed former minister, prompting the then chancellor, Philip Hammond, to write to Mr Johnson and ask him to "apologise for the misleading briefing from No 10". At the meeting with Mr Cummings, Ms Khan, who worked under Mr Hammond, handed over both her personal and work phones, and her phone logs were checked. Evidence was found that she had been in touch with former colleagues who had worked for Mr Hammond, but not that she had been involved in leaking any sensitive government information. No reason was given for her dismissal, but the BBC's Iain Watson said it was suggested the issue was about whether she could be trusted to be transparent with No 10. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-49532243 I now am so seriously worried about the country we are now living in. This is getting really scary
Ffs!! This has always gone on under governments of all colours. This paranoid, screeching is becoming ridiculous.
What now, Col? Has something about Alexander de Pfeiffel’s past suggested he’s got the brainpower for this?
Ooh you're not allowed to express any concern on here anymore, everything the government is doing is completely fine, nothing to worry about.
Nobody's screeching, Col. Why do you like to use that word so much? It's not the fact of the sacking, but the manner of it that is of concern. If the woman deserved to be sacked, which seems very doubtful, it should have been done by Javid or Johnson, not the odious (that's another of your favourites isn't it), unelected Cummings. He really does seem to be running things. https://www.theguardian.com/politic...6Vd1wLhb2ObhbmFZTT1fZkhSCoWuGP3PZ4Lhv2mreKB2E
Have none of you seen 'Yes Minister'? Fiction I know, but widely accepted as very accurate . Nothing new to see here.
Good. So i have to prove the statistics published by the government and other people get away with the electronic border rubbish totally unchallenged. https://yougov.co.uk/topics/politics/articles-reports/2016/06/27/how-britain-voted
Oh look a Government statistic, believe that you’ll believe anything, how can they know who voted for what, unless they asked every single person who came out of a polling booth, which is highly unlikely, there are no names on a ballot sheet, no ages on a ballot sheet, and polls are unreliable as we know so please explain how they got such accurate figures from what was a secret ballot.
Love this. Sort of sums up the thread. 'Majority of young people voted remain' [Fairly reasonable claim] 'Prove it' *Provides statistic* 'I don't believe it' For the record, on the question of the methodology, it's hardly within the margin of error: https://fullfact.org/europe/how-did-young-people-vote-brexit-referendum/ On the point of Cummings firing a SpAd, it's hardly a crisis of democracy for one unelected advisor, who is in charge of all the SpAds in other departments, to terminate the employment of another SpAd. Yes, there has been a change under this administration as SpAds used to report directly to Ministers, but they've been entirely transparent about that change, and I see no reason why they are not within their rights to have made that change. If Ministers wants advisors who are working for them alone, and not the Govt as a whole, they can pay for them out of their own pocket, or rely on their staff in their parliamentary office like every other MP.
I guess it is called polling. At least it is based on some degree of truth. Can you prove the eborder will work ? Usual double standards. We have to undeniably prove every statement and nothing asked to the illuminated leadership. You know Kim Jon Un climbed a mountain barefoot ?
It really isn't. So much faux outrage because remainers want to stop brexit by any means. Round and round we go.
