So he’s a 23 year old professional athlete, who might get a bit tired? That’s literally it. Just play him FFS. Its 1 game!
His fitness levels aren't what Pochettino wants from our squad, apparently. He'll probably be on the bench.
IIRC, he played about 45 minutes of football in pre-season For comparison, Jack Roles played more than that
I can understand that long term if he’s required to play successive back to back games. But at the moment we’re totally uninspiring. Surely he’s fit enough to manage 60 minutes?!
One happy smiling. laughing Pochettino. Pretty much transformed from recent press conferences. Good omens.
had a one to one with Levy on Thursday evening apparently to clear the air. Like you say, he seemed happier today.
The cap is gone, he's had a shave and he's rambling a lot less. Still too long and we don't seem to be doing the filming in house, but it's an improvement.
Poch's comments Re Eriksen suggest that he won't be involved in any capacity tomorrow in case a bid comes in, but that if one hasn't materialised by tomorrow night, he'll remain a Spurs player until at least January as we won't be entertaining bids on Monday. Not sure if that means he'll sign da ting and extend or that Poch now accepts the fact that he'll walk for free next summer. More concerning is the fact that we'll be treated to more of Lamela running around in circles tomorrow.
“People will say: ‘Why are you playing Christian?’ The teammates can say: ‘Why are you playing Christian if the rumour is he’s going to leave? Gaffer, why am I not playing when Christian is looking to go away?’” Pochettino said. “In this situation there are plenty of things that happen inside that I cannot translate to the media and our fans. The most important is to trust in our judgment. If people have the information to make this decision, it’s us.” I got to back Poch here
That feeling of dread has set in, and there’s still 8 hours until kick off. How will we line up? Will we see more of the same slow ponderous football? Will we use the diamond in midfield? () I bloody hate this fixture. It’s made worse today by the fact that a defeat could see us 8 points adrift at the top after just 4 games, and 5 points behind Arsenal, with just 4 points from 4 games. I know it’s still early in the season, but seriously Tottenham, if there was ever a day to turn up and play some decent football for the first time in a long time, it’s today. COYS
Putting yourself in the shop window with a performance in a London equivalent of "El Classico" is : 1. Not necessary, as Eriksen is evidently WC (going on his suitors this summer) 2. Beneath him.
Just got a bad feeling about today - not sure that whatever team we put out that we are in the right frame of mind for this - but equally if there is a match to shake off the malaise of the last 2 weeks then this could be it. Worried about our midfield options so I would get Jan back in the side and play 3 at the back Hugo, Toby, Dav, Jan Moussa, Winks, Lo Celso, Rose Eriksen, Son Kane COYS
How's everyone feeling? Nervous? Cos I'm ****ing bricking it The next few hours are going to be hell.
No doubt, because tis a must win game for you. The only defeat for Spurs that will be of concern has to be worse than 2-4.
Yeah, this is true. I think part of the reason why we've won the last two (league) derbies at The Emirates (ending a run of 3 successive draws) was because, in both games, we weren't expected to win, so in that sense, there was less pressure than normal. There was still pressure to perform as its a north London derby and there's no excuse for not turning up, but there would have been no surprises if you'd won. This time around, however, it is different. With Pochettino being coy and coming across as slightly irritable in his press conferences, the uncertainty over Alderweireld, Vertonghen and Eriksen, and your indifferent form so far, most people are expecting us to take advantage and win. Taking all these factors into consideration, in theory, we should be winning this. But I just have a feeling your players will turn up and will get a draw. My prediction is 2-2.
People say form goes out the window in a derby but at Arsenal away it rarely does. Add in that Spurs are in relegation form and a home win seems the only logical outcome. Just want today to be over with tbh
