Good Morning. It's Friday 30th August, and here are the Leeds Utd headlines

    Leeds raid Brunton Park.....again!

Leeds have announced the signing of Highly rated Carlisle United teenager, Josh Galloway for an undisclosed fee.

Galloway follows his former Cumbrian teammate Liam McCarron to Elland Road. He is likely to join straight up with Carlos Corberans U23's.

The Glasgow-born 17-year-old midfielder grew up supporting Carlisle and has been with the Cumbrians since under-10 level. He was 13 months into a two-year scholarship contract at Brunton Park whern Leeds snapped him up.

Their manager Steven Pressley expressed his anger about losing not just one, but two of his starlets:-

"It's something that disappoints me," he said. "I've said this before and I mean this; although I want to promote our young players from within the club, we have to keep our young players.

"We have to develop a situation where our supporters are seeing them for long periods of time. "At this moment in time with both McCarron and young Josh, they're not seeing the development of the player and it's hard to accept."

"It's circumstances of the system, to a degree, because I spoke with young Josh on two occasions, I told him to speak to his parents on this and I expressed the fact that I didn't want him to leave the club," "I wanted him to develop here and play football here, I felt that was the best line for his development.

"He wasn't in agreement with that. "The system has created a situation now where you have young players who I don't even think have to earn a contract and the club are under pressure to give them contracts. "In my day you had to earn the right to a contract, now if we don't protect a young player who's had a couple of good games within a week, we're in danger of losing him.

"We offered a contract to Josh, which was declined, then you're in a position where if you don't negotiate what you consider to be a good offer, an offer that gives you an opportunity to earn money as he progresses in his career, you're in danger of losing him to a minimal amount of money through a tribunal. It's ridiculous at this moment in time.

"That's what the system is creating and it's incredible, it's not right." "In our conversation I said to him, he'll be going to Leeds United, I'm not questioning how they develop their young players, they're very good at it at that club, but he might be in a situation where he's in amongst the 18s squad. Here he's only two or three injuries away from being on our bench," said Pressley.

"For me the best form of development for a young player is to be in and around the first team, that's the quickest form of progression. "He was around us, that's why I'm disappointed. "I don't understand the reasoning for it but I also understand the club's take, we have to protect our own interests. "We're forced into these things and that's what kind of angers me just now."

Is it fair for a bigger fish to come along and snap up the young talent that you have nurtured for seven years? A host of Championship and Premier League clubs were after the Galloway, so if Leeds hadn't snapped him up, one of their rivals would have!

    Bielsa pre match Press Conference

Bielsa has been speaking ahead of the top of the table clash with Swansea tomorrow. The good news is that Captain Liam Cooper is available for selection following his ankle injury that kept him out of both Stoke games. The Leeds supremo also spoke about fallen idol Jack Clarke, and the lack of game time he has had.

The Argentine said: “He showed in previous times that he is an unbalanced player. He has to show this again, the skills that he has. There are five players who he is fighting with to adapt into the team.

“He’s fighting for his position like everyone. He’s doing this. I’m always watching and analysing everything the behaviour. We then make our conclusions for the team. Sometimes I am right and wrong with all the players.”

    In other news...
Eddie Nketiah has been speaking about having Ian Wright as his mentor during his time on loan at Elland Road. The former Arsenal and England legend has been in constant communication with the 19yo striker since his move to LS11.

“Ian is a massive help. I’ve got really close with him,” he said.
“It’s a dream come true and as a kid I’ve always looked up to him. He’s a bit of a mentor.”

Bryce Hosannah has confirmed via his twitter account that he has undergone surgery.

The 20yo right back has long been considered one of the brightest talents in a Leeds academy was dogged with injury for much of last season. It is not known how long Hosannah is expected to be out for.

Douglas or Alioski? Who would you select to start tomorrow?

    Morning all

Douglas as Alioski is a nice utility player to have on the bench. Second half the option to bring on Alioski, Costa and Eddy would have Swansea shaking their heads in disbelief

“He showed in previous times that he is an unbalanced player.”

Based on the following sentence, this comes across as a compliment to me, but what does he mean by that?

I took it as a non compliment, as in previous games this season he is unbalanced and hence why dropped or not getting much game time

Morning all. I think we will all sympathise with Steve Pressley but it has always happened. I remember Juventus taking John Charles it broke hearts in Leeds.Hopefully in the long run it will benfit the player but its not much consolation to his club.

Morning all. Its the depressing part of football isn't it, losing up and coming talent to bigger clubs. No one knows better than us Leeds fans how it feels after 15 years of it.

Good Morning from a dull chilly Bardsey
I bet its a sell out tomorrow and should be with the top 2 teams meeting I have studied the results so far and the swans have only played a serious top6 contender once Derby 0-0 the rest are also rans.To be fair we have only played one as well Bristol C
So I think that this will be a big test for both teams
Pleased to see we are signing more outstanding youngsters they are our future
Finally regarding Clarke I think he should be sent back to Spurs he clearly feels he is too good for us hence unbalancednot knowing where he wants to be

    Morning all,

Haha! Glad it's not just me that can't fathom what Bielsa means. Must have got lost in the translation, surely? My only thought on it is that he means that Clarke had an unpredictable side to him - that he ran at players & defenders didn't know how to handle him - but this season he's lost that unpredictable edge. I say that because I remember last season Bielsa saying that the reason he got picked was primarily that he could run at players - successfully - and it gave us something different.

One other possible answer is reference is to his mental attitude. By this I mean that last season he was hungry for success, confident in his ability but not confident that he'd get picked, etc., etc. This season, the transfer has gone to his head & in his own wee world, he's made it, he feels that he should be picked because of his valuation, etc. i.e. his head needs fixed as Bielsa still sees him as a small fish in a big pond, but he sees himself as Billy big Bollocks. Which he clearly isn't.

But then this is all guesswork on my part & I really have no clue what he's meaning. :)

Just to comment on the LB berth - I don't think it's about who we would pick, but who Bielsa would pick, and I think it's clear now that he favours Douglas. I accept it, & realise that he brings something to the team that Bielsa looks for, but, bugger me, I have no idea what it is that gets him picked. But then, that's why Bielsa gets paid the big bucks & I get to watch Leeds with a dropped jaw these days. Which is a delight. :D

Morning all. I don’t think Bielsa meant it as a put down. Personally I think his translator picked the wrong word, but only basing that on his following sentence. My view is by ‘unbalanced’ he meant ‘unpredictable’, in that he has the skills to run and dribble past players and he needs to get back to doing that then he can be considered for selection. Could be wrong but that’s how I read it.

We have lost a lot of clarity since Salim Lamrami went missing because Marcus Abaad and Carlos Corberan do not translate what Bielsa actually means by some things he says. They give a Spanish translation for certain things that make no sense in South American Portuguese. Lamrani knew the naunce and the feelings behind words spoken by Bielsa

Carlisle are making more money from the sale of their kids than they do from senior players. But as Eire and others have said its the only way clubs in the EFL can survive. Sky tv money has fooked the game and fooked the structures of the game because clubs like Brighton, Bournemouth, Watford, Norwich, Burnley now rule the roost over clubs like Sunderland, Leeds, Wednesday, and Forest

My insider has told me Pochs about to walk from Spurs. Kane and vertonghen had a bust up and poch is taking Kanes side but hes still set to leave.

Dont think Bielsa will be tempted to leave, but they would be foolish not to look at him.

    Morning all <ok>

Where does South American Portugese come in to it? Are Abaad +/or Corberan from Brazil?

There could be another answer, but I don't know how likely. I read a biography on Maradona & was surprised to find that many Argentinians didn't fully understand him. Apparently there's a street language in Argentina, a bit like pidgin english, if you like, and that was his first language. Might just be in Buenos Aries, but I can't remember - I read the book yonks ago.

The funny thing is, it would be a perfect fit for Bielsa. Poc can take them no further - there's no doubt in my mind about that. They even seem to be slipping backwards. That's a perfect Bielsa challenge & might be the platform to bring him the silverware that's eluded him. So yes, I agree, we'd be right to be concerned. I'm hoping his integrity & involvement in our project might keep him here. One thing's for sure - it won't be about money.

I listened to the presser in Spanish Bielsa said: el ya demonstro que es un jugador desequilibrante
Meaning that he can unbalance a game not that he is an unbalanced player.
The translator does a good job its not easy translating live, although sometimes things do get lost in translation.
