Does that mean he is going to be awesome the second half of the season and **** off to top 6 club or even Europe. heard today Gyans clubs attendance last game was 250 lol Sunday morning league So Bruce has money to spend in Jan so lets hope he is looking and has someone lined up for Jan 1st and not the last day again. Looking forward to the game and hopefully Bendtner can get off to a good start Come on you reds
stop being so bitter lol. but in seriousness, of course bendtner is thinking that, he's only on loan? the plan i'm sure for every party is that he plays very well this season, then returns to arsenal and starts performing for them. surely that's the best outcome for every party, sunderland and arsenal. You aren't expecting him to come on loan to sunderland and suddenly refuse to go back to arsenal because of his newfound loyalty to Sunderland?
The rest of the interview makes for an interesting read... Sunderland striker Nicklas Bendtner admits life on Wearside is a world away from the bright lights of London, but says he would need assurances of regular football if he was ever to return to Arsenal. The Denmark international has joined the Black Cats on a season-long loan deal from Arsenal and is set to lead the Sunderland attack at home to Stoke on Sunday. And the 23-year-old insists he will do his utmost to ensure he settles in quickly at the Stadium of Light. "It's very different from London, but you just have to learn and adapt," he said. "I have rented a good house and am probably going to spend most of my time there, as I did in London, and then spend time with my family when I am not playing football, so it's going to be okay. Great time "It's different but I think you should be willing to adapt everywhere you go. Obviously it's not what I'm used to but I'm sure I will have a great time here." Bendtner has been dogged by an interview he gave 18 months ago where he was quoted as saying he viewed himself as "one of the best strikers in the world" but that he needed to score more goals. Having struggled to establish himself in the Arsenal first team, that seemed a bold statement, but Bendtner has been keen to set the record straight. "What I said is that when a striker scores more than 20 goals a season then the papers are quick to say now he's one of the best strikers in the world," he explained. "I said I thought in my game that I can always improve but the thing that I missed that I needed to do was to score more goals. "But it was difficult for me as I never really got a run of games so I didn't have a chance to do that." And asked about the possibility of returning to Arsenal at the end of the season, Bendtner made it clear he would need reassurances from manager Arsene Wenger that he would be given regular action. "One thing for sure is that I want to play football," he said. "I do not want to do what I have been doing before. If it's going to be the same way I would rather not go back. Welbeck example "I've not really seen much of their games, I've just seen the results. Apparently they were quite unlucky against Borussia Dortmund, who scored in the last minute, but I hope they will do really well and that the young players there will have a great season." But Bendtner has taken heart from Danny Welbeck's loan spell at Sunderland last season, during which he earned his international debut before returning to Manchester United and breaking into the defending champions' first team. "What happened with Danny was a fantastic story," he said. "He comes here, does well and is now doing really well for Manchester United. "If I can do a similar thing that would be great for me."
Goes to show though that it was football part of the equation that drew him to the deal - so many to impress so many to gasp in awe as he slots another one in the net!! Or might it have been the $???
It can't have been the money, he's left a Champions League club to come here, if he's looking to prove himself and be a great footballer, brilliant, he'll play well for us, at least for this season.
Sounds like he has come because he wants to play. He will be on a decent enough wage, when you have been out of the first 11 for a long time even money can't stop you wanting to play. Gyan is going to find this out.
I suppose it's a fair statement as he's on loan. Perhaps he doesn't actually have any intention of staying at your place beyond the loan. Can't really ask for too much along those lines from a loan player. How many loan players have you seen who permanently vow themselves to the club? Especially before they've even kicked a ball? It doesn't happen often.
Dont care if he is only using us to get a stable position at Arsenal, aslong as hes gonna bang the goals in to get us out of this mess untill we can buy a few strikers!
When you read the whole interview, he comes across a lot better, and just wants to play... A short snippet from the interview doesn't do him justice.
Jersey - sorry if it was unclear - I was on about Gyan and the huge crowds! Commachio's post wasn`t there when I started typing, had a coffee etc etc. Totally agree re Bendtner - if he "does a Danny" for us - scores a boat load and leaves he`ll be applauded and thanked by me for his efforts.
I agree to an extent. Still, just because it's an acceptable standpoint doesn't mean he had to express it in an interview. Imo, it's a bit off for him to come out and basically say "I'll give it a go for Sunderland, but I really hope I'll be somewhere better next year." Just a bit unnecessary. SAFC are his employers for the time being, after all.
Anyone who thinks Bendtner is here for the long term is kidding themselves he is using us as a stepping stone, he even came out and said last year that he was one of the best strikers in the world he is using us looking to have a good season and get a move to a side in europe and if worst comes to worst he will end up back with us just the way it is nowadays
Depends on the agreement in place I think. I would imagine we will either be paying all his wages, or if not then the vast majority. I think the only reason to loan someone out but continue paying their wages is if you want a recall clause in the agreement, not sure though.. Maybe blackcatsteve can help me out if he reads this lol
