I don't see that its a big deal if you are watching on TV. In the Newcastle-Spurs game the penalty reviews were done while the game continued and didn't take very long - I assume the guy with the TV looked at it once, communicated "Nah - its Spurs" to Mike Dean and the game carried on. If the game has stopped then its not an issue anyway - presumably the Ref has stopped his watch while he waits for the decision. So the only issue (and I am sure quite a big one if you are at the game) is the delayed goal celebrations when one is being reviewed. Suspect that is something we will have to live with for our UKP100million plus each in revenue from Sky each year. Will let you have my further thoughts on it after I watch Newcastle - Man Utd live in October but at the moment I am all for it. The speed of the internet here the VAR decisions actually give it time to catch up.
Today we have two football league clubs about to go out of business, and taking with it the community bond in which they have been carved for a century. In an age where VAR is used for a bigger cost than the value of them. Where technology is thought of more than culture.
I enjoyed it at the World Cup as well and also think the German League uses it well (similar to World Cup). Think it will take a while to bed in here - suspect some refs may initially err even more on side of caution with penalties assuming if they dont give it VAR will do their job for them.
