Lol @ Autoglass trophy. Well i think most gooners know that we won't be challenging for much in the next few years, but there is nothing wrong with being positive.

As for the game, i think we will do well as Arteta will be used to the physicality of Blackburn by playing for Everton for so long. We have most of our squad back and they dont' have players fast enough to threaten our new giant Mertesacker. I think the good mid-week game should give us that added confidence to do well away to Blackburn.

I agree, with our current setup, we should be equipped to face the likes of Bolton, Blackburn, Stoke etc etc.... We no longer have luxury players, if our players turn-up we should be to get something from this game.

  10. Answer to what AJ? <laugh>

BTW you don't have to leave our board. I'm sure the guys enjoy your contribution here. Apart from anything else they've had an opportunity to brush up their Latin. For some of us it must be getting quite a bit rusty ;)

I've got us down to win 2-0 at blackburn. I'll guess RVP and Mertesacker goals.

    TEAM NEWS

Blackburn forward Junior Hoilett is available to face Arsenal after recovering from concussion.

Midfielders Morten Gamst Pedersen and David Dunn and defender Ryan Nelsen are all injury doubts.

Arsenal's Aaron Ramsey is struggling to overcome an ankle injury, while Tomas Rosicky and Ryo Miyaichi are also fitness concerns.

Alex Song, Gervinho and Carl Jenkinson return to the squad after serving their suspensions.
    MATCH PREVIEW

It's Arsenal's first trip to the north-west since their 8-2 humiliation at Manchester United, but they go there a completely different side.

Arsenal's signings should settle quicker than the Blackburn new boys

Then they were a pitiful shambles. But Tuesday's draw in Dortmund showed they have their pride back and with new signings already bedding in, they can look to end a shabby record of only one win in their last 10 away league games.

Blackburn's points tally doesn't match their effort. Injuries hit them badly at Fulham last week but they deserved a point, if only for their resolute second-half defending when Gael Givet stood out at centre-back after he'd been tortured at left-back in the first period. Boss Steve Kean will surely opt for Martin Olsson at full-back against Arsenal's pace.

Mikel Arteta can't fill the hole left at Arsenal by Cesc Fabregas but he can coax the best out of Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere in the future. Yossi Benayoun may not fly like Samir Nasri, but he has a better career scoring ratio. Per Mertesacker has height - and the experience of two World Cups. I thought he was excellent in South Africa.

If they apply themselves, the Gunners should make it eight wins in 11 against Rovers, especially if Robin van Persie can maintain his wonderful record of scoring in 10 of their last 11 away league games. They should have too much mobility in midfield for Blackburn, who are in danger of making their worst start since 1996, when they picked up only one point from their opening six games.

It's the team that hasn't been winning at home against the team that hasn't been winning away. I'll go for Arsenal's recovery to continue.
    MATCH FACTS

    Head-to-head

    * Arsenal have won 57 and Blackburn 29 of the 117 previous matches between these clubs.
    * The Gunners have won seven of their last 10 games against Rovers. These have included two 6-2 victories and two 4-0 wins.

    Blackburn

    * Bottom of the table Rovers are without a league win this season and have failed to score in their last two matches.
    * They have lost both their two home games so far this term.
    * Spanning last season, they have won only one of their last nine home matches.

    Arsenal

    * Arsenal have failed to score in two of their four league matches this season.
    * A defeat for the Gunners would be the club's 100th away loss in the Premier League.

  16. So, what are your predictions for this one, guys?

Lawro has this down as a 1-1 draw. Do you think he's right, and would you settle for that, at this stage of your season?

  18. I'm expecting Wenger to rally his troupes, pull out all the stops, and win this one. I'm not saying that it's going to be a convincing win, as I still believe your new arrivals have some work to do before they meld completely into the team, but I do think you are going to win.

I think our new arrivals have bedded in quite well, already we look better than the team that limped over the line at the end of last season.
We should go into this game with confidence running high.

I'm going for 0-2 to the Arsenal <ok>
