Afraid I've not, but I'm sure I saw a few banners up for something of his earlier this year with a smaller orchestra here. It's actually not the easiest thing in the world to avoid the usual Verdi/Mozart/Vivaldi/Dvorak/Smetana stuff for the tourists when looking for good concerts here.
That would probably be the Czech folk/classical project he did, went by the name of Proteny I think. Getting rave reviews apparently. Jazz is composer in residence for Prague and is also a conductor so he probably does some of those you were mentioning. Can only find one piece of his on youtube (he composed and conducted it) ... Aye i've heard of Sylosis, they're a good band but the reason these 9 bands are in my vid is because their songs consistently impress me. I like 100's of bands but most of them only have 3-4 songs per album that i like.
Not bad at all. It sounds surprisingly eastern european, in fact not too disimilar to some early soviet film soundtracks.

Yeah he seems to be heavily influenced by eastern europe and the middle east (spent alot of time with Cairo Conservatoire). He did the arrangements for the Led Zepellin, Pink Floyd, Doors and Rolling Stones classical albums with the London Philarmonic as well. His arrangement of Kashmir is a classic! All a bit different from his KJ stuff, very ecclectic and talented bloke. Hopefully some of his own classical stuff will find its way to cd eventually. Closest I've got other than the Led Zep etc symphonies is the KJ track Invocation which is also the dog's. I think it might end up being one of them that i play repeatedly! I have a real thing for Eastern European music, it's just so good! That KJ track sounds a lot like ES Posthumus! I really wish i'd gone to see KJ when i had the chance now. They're really growing on me!
Never heard of ES Posthumus before but just listened to a few tracks. Good stuff that is my evening sorted Never pass up on KJ fella! Hope you get the chance to put that right Edit: oh yeah if you like eastern european music try the Beirut album Gulag Orkestrar, it is excellent. Also the Ukranians (side project by the Wedding Present), it is an album of crazy cossack music. As for classical i've always preferred eastern to the germanic composers. Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, Mussorgsky, Hvorak, Smetana, Sibelius, Rimsky-Korsakov and Kachaturian all get my recommendation

Good to hear They're pretty good, but, as with most good bands, they've split up now. I'm pretty sure they've done the scores to a few films, but it might just be that all their songs sound like they should be on films I know, i know! I feel a right muppet
