The Daily Mirror is claiming that we've jumped in ahead of Werder Bremen to sign Horacio Benincasa, a 17-year-old Peruvian left-back, after a trial at White Hart Lane, which included a reserve game. Work permit issues could be a problem, though there is some suggestion that he may qualify for a Spanish passport. Never heard of him and I've no idea if he's any good, but it is an area that we're light in, especially at youth level.
Never heard of him either, bound to be something on youtube that makes him look like the next Roberto Carlos though PNP.
He's even too young for that, SoS. Only thing that I could find was him scoring the second goal in a 3-0 win for Peru U17s v Uruguay U17s. He exists, at least.
He is in fact Horacio Cristian Benincasa Olaya, who played in the Kettering Town 4-5 Spurs XI.They just didn't look up the double surname all Spanish/Hispanic people have.
Can't be!! We should have gone for Ramos Smalling. His dual heritage means work permit issues are non-existant.
We conceded a lot of goals in that game and he went off at 4-2 with just under an hour gone. There was only one other actual defender in our side, though and Alnwick was in goal, so that's basically a clean sheet!
Actually signing cover at left back, instead of playing a right winger from our Academy? Unheard of! Let's just hope he isn't like the last Spanish-speaking teenage full back we signed. Last time I checked, Yuri Berchiche is playing in Spain's third tier...
