Two interesting stats! Especially he won EVERY tackle he went in for and he was as fast as Downing

With Liverpool fans discussing whether Jamie Carragher is still the player he once was, Carra responded by covering more ground in the Stoke game than any player apart from consistent top workers Lucas Leiva and Charlie Adam. Carra has also won every tackle he has gone for and contributed 8 clearances and 2 blocks.

Stewart Downing continued his flying form for England by being Liverpool’s fastest player, with a top speed of 25.72 mph which was matched by who else but Jamie Carragher

I think Carra has made some mistakes this season but will start every game when fit. I still think he is top class.

Yeah I think he should, his organisation is second to none too

I am very impressed with the above, I think some fans have to be careful what they wish for when they call for Carra to be dropped

His pace and ability has never been too much of a concern for me, we all know he is capable of keeping some great players in his pocket. He has cost us a couple of goals this season against Bolton and Stoke but how avoidable were they? Most great defenses in the world have an experienced CB, my greatest fear when Carra doesn't play is not the loss of his physical attributes but his leadership at the back. <ok>

Carra is one of those defenders that reads the game very well, and at Liverpool he has done that for a long, long time now. The only thing that comes with the slow progresion of time is that people will look at his age as a factor as to why he should be moved on etc... To be honest as long as he is doing his job good enough for us to keep progressing further up the league then he stays put...

But in saying all that we only have to look down the road to the mancs... I hate to say it but Jones and Smalling can play football as well as looking like making good defenders. Rio has always thought himself a midfielder as he can pass and dribble out of defence like one, and that is where we need to be going. In my opinion Agger is our best defender for that job, but we cant seem to keep him fit long enough to get that back 2 system that plays week in week out.

Its just the next stage for us to get to... Carra is doing a very solid job for us, but the team needs strengthening in the cenftre half department anyway. So Carra will be the first target of the hunting hounds wanting a story...

Kelly, Flanagan and Wilson look good but are they at the level for us to win a championship with...??? Maybe soon, with time, we wont know yet... Its the one department that i wish we would look to improve in the next transfer window...

We can only wait and see... As for the demise and anticpated dropping of Carra... Keep watching and dont hold your breath, he's going to be around for a bit yet...!!!

I've read that Coates is very good at walking the ball out of defense also, he also has a decent shot and a good head so I expect a few goals to come from him. I really hope he can be our next Sammi. <ok>

I would agree with that. Having Carra on the pitch when Gerrard is playing is like having 2 captains. I noticed against Stoke when Carra had to go off briefly for treatment he was organising the defense as he was leaving the pitch and even shouting commands while he was getting treated. That is what will be missed, his pure presence is outstanding and he has all the attributes to become a great manager one day.

I remember watching a Gerrard interview on LFC TV. When asked does he ever think he would become a manager, the first thing he said was that Carra is more likely than himself to be a manager as he is more tuned into tactics and has more passion for the finer details of the game.

Carra has only made one mistake this season against Bolton. That penalty he gave away was very unlucky - even some of my biased mates said that was pretty harsh and they hate the bloke!

He has been really good apart from that one lapse in concentration which luckily didn't cost us cos we were 3-0 up.

Actually count the amount of times he clears the ball when we play Spurs at the weekend, he gets on the end of anything dangerous and, as rightly pointed out, his leadership/organisational skills are second to none.

On this note, I am sure many of you know 'Boston Goals'. Well it was in full effect the other night when Seattle were playing a team from Costa Rica in our Champions league here. A guy by the name of cansela who years ago played for New England, not Seattle was playing for the Costa Rican side. He scored a goal, so they started to talk of him........ " Cansela, former player of the new england revolution, comes back home to score against Seattle" Not usually when an announcer states this, the player is playing against his former side at that sides ground, unfortunately he was playing in f***ing Costa Rica and against Seattle, not NE. These commentators we have here are absolute numpties of the highest order.

Carra is still a good player maybe not as fast as he used to be but his leadership is second to none
But according to the stats he put the most distance in last week

When he does hang his boots up he should/will go for his coaching badge for the youth and work his way up
He would be a good coach because you can see the leadership in him when he's playing

Here's hoping he does go for management job

I wanna say that carra already has his B ( not sure if that is the same there but the second highest) badge as he knows he is going to be coaching. I think he is already ahead of the curve.

I only come on when I am at work so US time 9-2, occasionally at night if I am bored, or a game I am watching here is on ( US for example), or a few sheets to the wind.
