The fact Toby/ Jan haven’t signed new deals yet also indicate we’re their second options, especially in Toby’s case, it was pretty apparent Toby wanted the Utd move last summer (probably this one too). But because Eriksen gave one interview to the press about wanting a new challenge despite still mentioning his admiration for Spurs and suddenly he’s a disruptive influence? Sorry don’t buy it. I’d be delighted if all three signed new deals even if signing on here wasn’t their first choice. Having players like at that the club is far better than not having them. If they actually start to act up and refuse to train/ play like Modric and Bale, that’s when I’d personally ‘turn on them’ and want them out but whilst they’ve remained respectful and continued to train/ be available for selection, I don’t have any issue.
I think perhaps your respect for Eriksen as a player is clouding your view of him as a man. Eriksen or Sex DH?
If one wants to succeed one needs 100% commitment from everyone involved, from players, through coaches, medical staff and even directors. Poch doesn't have that yet.
Maybe I just want our best players to stay, Spurf. It’s a strange idea but you know, kind of think it’d help us.
Player can still remain committed whilst wanting a new challenge. I’d hate to see Toby, Jan and Eriksen all leave just because they may see/ have once seen their futures elsewhere.
There hasn’t been any disruption other than the European window still being open which is out of ours/ our player’s control. Eriksen - as well as Toby and Jan - have continued to train and make themselves available for selection. If the window had shut there’d be no disruption.
For sure and I can appreciate that fans will be annoyed at that, it’s definitely not ideal but I just don’t buy that he himself is actually being disruptive as some have suggested. If he suddenly went all Modric/ Bale on us you can rest assured I’ll be at the front of the queue with my pitchfork in hand . But until then, so long as he gets his head down, trains and plays, I won’t really have much bad to say about him. That applies to any other player too who also may see their future elsewhere.
DH... @Spurf wanted me to ask if this was you watching Grealish finally win a premier league game on Friday...
Eriksen was being disruptive by stating publicly that he wanted a new challenge. Although he did allude to being content to stay with spurs, we all knew what he was doing and the effects of that has been slightly disruptive. Don't get me wrong, I don't think he was intending to "disrupt" as such but he was a little naive in his execution. It ought to have been said to Poch/Levy and let them deal with it, without the need to cause any **** stirring by spouting his willingness to seek new adventures publicly. I still like the player and do not think that was any malice involved. But as said, he was naive and selfish by putting his own needs first and foremost rather than thinking of the club.
I think he wants to go somewhere and win medals regularly. He should have done that at Spurs but our manager is only interested in the PL and the CL.I don't think he's bothered with the others. The fans are and the players should be...…...
Remember how winning the Season Killer Cup helped us keep hold of Keane and Berbatov that summer? That's how valuable those medals are
